Bits and Wits

The season of coming back, like being birthed anew.

All things are new, all things.

I can feel the gush of the wind. Rushing breeze.

Changed perspective, seeing things in a different angle.

If I'll put a title for this post, it would be, "Undoing what was done - the Disney way".

I am not sure if you have the same thoughts as mine but I'm gonna share it anyway. For the past decades, Disney has been giving us (girls / ladies) that "dreamy" theme - that a price charming will come along, sweep us off our feet and we'll live happily ever after.

But reality bursts our bubble. Nope, that was way too far in real life. No prince will just drop by your garden and will save you at your most damned day. (Sorry, kids.) And I have read some articles who were taking critique on these story lines of Disney and the truth is, I agree with them. From there on, I said to myself that when and if I have a daughter, I won't expose her to Disney princesses and that sort. I wouldn't want her to expect for a prince charming (that's way too high a standard for a guy).

And then Frozen came. This movie is undoing what was previously done. Screencaps that I have placed in this blog are those scenes that proves Disney is in touch with reality and would like us to be in touch as well. (I like Anna and Kristoff's personalities, by the way. It so represents today's language and reactions! So close to real life!)

What's funny is, I have found quite a few unforgettable scenes / conversations - not because they are astounding, but because I can picture these scenes happen in real life. 

Scene 1: The shock

Kristoff: "You got engaged to someone you just met that day???"

Scene 2: Burst the bubble

Kristoff: "I'm gonna tell him."

Anna: "Don't you dare!"

Scene 3: Boys do cry

Kristoff: "Now that's ice. I might cry."

Anna: "Go ahead. I won't judge."

Scene 4: Meet the Parents

Kristoff: "I don't want to scare you. They can be a little inappropriate...and loud - very loud. They are also stubborn, at times, and a little overbearing and heavy - really, really heavy. [rambles]"

Anna: "Kristoff, they sound wonderful."

Scene 5: Love is.

Anna: "I don't even know what love is."

Olaf: "That's ok, I do."

"Love is putting someone else's needs before yours like, you know, how Kristoff brought you back here to Hans and left you forever."

Frozen, indeed, is a movie-to-watch. No wonder I hear a lot of raves and great reviews for the movie.

So yes, this is Disney's way of undoing things. They might have been a little late but hey, this one's a good start!
