"into the inkwell," analyzed

hello everyone! recently ran into a dr. who fancomic that has completely consumed my mind - the lovely, creative into the inkwell comic by @modmad - and since simply rotating the characters in my head isn't enough, i've decided to share my many thoughts with the internet at large. please check the comic out (here's a link to the start) and support the project via the creator's patreon!

this will be a mixed "live-blog" and commentary project, going through the pages roughly in order, but with some flexibility to showcase parallels, setups and payoffs, etc. more effectively, and some overviews between chapters. i'll be giving my thoughts on the plot, characters, and any details i find especially interesting. fair warning, this is a reread of the comic up to what's been released so far, so i'll be writing with events that happen later on in mind.

to mimic the feel of posting live on a schedule, posts will be scheduled to come out in chunks/"sections" once every other week on wednesday evening/night, with each individual post scheduled 5-10 minutes apart. links will be added/updated the day after.

thank you to anyone who takes the time to follow this little project, and thank you to the creator for making a work of art that inspired me so much! i'm not sure how long i'll be able to sustain this - i have several health problems and a full time job - but chapter 3 is where i really start having a lot to say, so i hope to make it there, and preferably much further! i hope you all enjoy hearing my thoughts! have fun!

something about the donkey space created by this scenario is captivating to me. like, one of the doctor's (and fifteen's in particular) strengths is understanding - not just things and situations, but people. he knows exactly how to appeal to a chaos god - appeal to their arrogance, poke at their desire not to be outdone or seen as weak, make it seem fun - and lux, in turn, knows this, sees a transparent attempt to play him and resents it, as if he'd fall for that.

...but, the doctor's anticipated THAT reaction too, right down to the timing, and switches to playing on something more specific to lux, and something they have in common - curiosity. it doesn't matter if lux knows what fifteen's doing, because now the hook is how he knows to do it in the first place. i know that you know that i know that you don't know
