Iāve been making small videos aboutĀ micro interactions / design patternsĀ for a year now. And from now on I will expand these post with extra information. I will add more examples and sometimes code tutorials or downloads. So when you get excited about the topic, you directly have the right tools to implement it.

GE and design may not seem to go together, but as it connects its industrial products, medical devices and home appliances to the internet and rethinks its business for the connected age, the company is focusing on user interfaces and data. http://bit.ly/1hkd2n5

Just in time... | UI Design Patterns for Successful Software
Thanks to Facebook i saw the announcementĀ of this course.
http://interaction-design.org/courses/ui_design_patterns_for_successful_software.html
It's the first time I will join a course at Interaction design.org, and I'm really looking forward following it. I'm working on several software projects at the moment. That gives me plenty of room to work with real scenarios.
Keep you posted with the results

Video:Tactile Rendering of 3D Features on Touch Surfaces
Via: BBC
Summary
In this project, we develop and apply a tactile rendering algorithm to simulate rich 3D geometric features (such as bumps, ridges, edges, protrusions, texture etc.) on touch screen surfaces. The underlying hypothesis is that when a finger slides on an object then minute surface variations are sensed by friction-sensitive mechanoreceptors in the skin. Thus, modulating the friction forces between the fingertip and the touch surface would create illusion of surface variations. We propose that the percept of a 3D ābumpā is created when local gradients of the virtual bump are mapped to lateral friction forces.

UX & Business: Flipboard
I really like reading on my iPad. So I created a new board on Flipboard to collect all my relevant ux and business articles. NormallyĀ I use PocketĀ to collect them, but I like the look and feel and the features of Flipboard so i'm giving it a try.

Reading: Microinteractions
My interaction design life just got better.Ā I just bought the bookĀ Microinteractions. It's about all the small things...
Microinteractions are contained product moments that revolve around a single use case.

5 Dangers of Flat Design, by UX pin
To say that āFlat design is extremely popularā is to say nothing. The Flat design took over the design world. Microsoft (since 2010), Google and Apple adapted flat design to some extent and thousands of designers followed (check outĀ the Flat Design Showcase).
The simple and clear aesthetics of the flat design is easy to recognize and became a brand on its own rights. Some designers though tend to see it asĀ beginning of the revolution:
