Cassette adaptor gear noise fix
Do you have a bluetooth adaptor similar to the one I have (see above image, ignore the battery) that has gears that are wayy too noisy when you press play? I fixed that, and Im gonna tell you how.
What your gonna need:
A screwdriver, a bit, the screws are small but any + head screwdriver should do
A light
Steady-ish hands (if your screwdriver holds screws via magnets, then your good)
And a mat (I use one from ifixit, if you dont have one, a cutting board and a bowl/container will do)
Now, if you have those:
Put your cassette on your surface, use the screwdriver to unscrew every screw. The top and bottom screws are the same size so you dont need to keep track of which is which.
Now, this parts gonna be a bit tricky, slowly pull on the side opposite of the tape head a bit, if it gives way and seperates then your OK, slowly work your way on any side, dont pull hard! youll break the plastic.
When you got the top off, most likely a million gears will fall out. Only take the two ones that look similar to:
They should be white plastic, keep those. Keep the other gears, you may need them for later.
Put the plastic reels back on (the two ones that you kept), theres a certain way they fit. The power switch may also have fallen out, put the top on but sandwich the switch cover on the left hand side where that smaller switch is and push the top, it should all come together, screw it back on (dont screw down all the way, just enough so it holds) and you SHOULD be OK. Test it in your boombox. The supply reel wont move (left reel part you put on), only the playback one (the right reel part) will move. You should be OK, can throw those gears out. If your boombox doesnt accept the tape then you NEED the gears on.
The tape head on your cassette may have shifted, personally from experience it wont affect anything. Nothings broken.
Little thing I would like to throw in: It seems the bluetooth cassettes you find on amazon all come from the same manufacturer, so this guide should work on every single one. Some may have wired remotes or can playback MP3s. The insides should be similar, this guide is most likely universal too with some MP3 cassette players.
(Heres what the insides look like)
