They say the people you should surround yourself with are the people who bring out the best in you. If that held truth, then Ben Hanscom should strive for the company of the Losers’ Club. The other six members were constantly forcing Ben to become his best self. They helped him discover his inner strength, providing him the support he needed.

Never before had Ben Hanscom mket a group of people who trusted him so full heartedly. They doubted him when they needed to--in the moments where he didn’t even trust himself. But more than that, they trusted him even when the stakes were high. They believed in his ability, and they were some of the first people to do so.

If Bill Denbrough was the unspoken leader of the group with an attentive writer’s mind, then Ben Hanscom was the unspoken mastermind with a logical mind of an architect. He saw how things needed to be put together and taken apart. He trusted in the laws of nature, and he trusted himself to strain them and even defy them if it was required. Before meeting the Losers’ Club, he had no reason to use this mind of his. However, once they saw it, they urged him to use it and to become more than the lonely kid he once found himself to be.

To Ben, Pennywise the Clown needed to be taken apart. It was a structure of the world, and like many abandoned creations, It no longer had a use. It needed to be demolished so another thing could take Its place. Ben was a planner, creating blueprints in his mind, quickly calculating what materials he would need and how much would be needed. Because the Losers’ Club trusted him, because they brought out the best in him, because he wanted to spend the rest of his life with them, he knew they could take down It in the most efficient way possible, wasting neither time nor resources like any proficient architect.

Bill Denbrough, the Leader

Bill Denbrough was the unspoken leader of the Losers’ Club. Although no one knew exactly why, it only felt natural to listen to his guidance. When they were lost, confused, or in need of a decision maker, they reflexively looked to Bill. Perhaps it was his ideas that had enticed them. He had an analytical writer’s mind--one that pondered over things more than others did. He not only saw the world, he also saw what it could become and what actions he’d have to take to make it so. Perhaps it was his reckless courage that made him a leader. If he was afraid, he never allowed it to hinder his actions and he was not embarrassed by it. Every antagonistic figure that entered his life was faced. Every battle, fought. Perhaps, they were willing to follow him because he had lost the most and was, therefore, the most emotionally invested in stopping It. Losing a sibling had a way of generating powerful emotions in someone. Bill knew how to direct those emotions into a cause he felt strongly for. Whatever the reason, the others found Bill to be a suitable leader. They would argue with him when they had to. They would fight against him if the situation called for it. But more than anything, they were prepared to follow him to their death.Without Bill, they knew they’d never stop the vicious cycle of Pennywise the Clown.They’d never be able to stop It.
