Don't Shamwoozle the Bamboozle

Hey guys,

I’m sorry Mark, but it’s one or the other. ether you believe it isn’t your place to speak on hate crimes against minorities that you aren’t a part of, or you don’t, but the fact that you chose this topic to brake your silence on and in this way speaks volumes.

“death to all jews” isn’t a joke (and you wanna talk “respect”? how about respecting jews? do jews not count as people in need of respect? cause lemme tell ya, “death to all jews” or “death to” any oppressed minority is beyond disrespectful), and the fact that he even for a second thought to do that tells us everything we need to know about him as a person, and the fact that you think it’s ok to even refer to it as a joke says a lot about you as well (and don’t think I didn’t notice the way you changed your voice, made it deeper, and used the volume and tone to intimidate us into not speaking out. hate to break it to ya but that only works irl).

jewish families have continued to be targeted by nazis. the end of the war never stopped them. anti-Jewish violence is seven times higher than in the 1990s, and 40% of racist violence is against Jews, despite them making up just 1% of the population.

and I’d also like to remind everyone of this

Mark wants to insist that no matter how bad a person someone is, we must treat them with respect, and basic human decency.

tell me Mark, do you think this man will treat us with the same respect that you’re demanding we treat him and those like him?

you say “we’re ether all people who deserve respect or we’re not” and let me make it clear if that image isn’t enough: he thinks we are not, and openly talks about genocide, as nonchalantly as we talk about removing mosquitoes from the planet.

you say “we must take the high road”, and claim it’s hard because it’s “lonely”.

I’m sorry Mark, but it isn’t “hard” because it’s “lonely”, it’s impossible because doing so will result in our deaths. (and btw? what you’re doing here isn’t “the high road” that’s taken a lot of courage to take. it is, in fact, incredibly cowardly)

it is extremely easy to blow us off when you aren’t the one being targeted, when you aren’t the one being dehumanized and treated like a pest in need of extermination.

you aren’t the one scared to go to your place of worship because today could be the day it’s bombed with you in it. you aren’t the one scared walking down the street because today could be the day a police officer decides you’re a threat. you aren’t the one scared to hold the hand of your significant other (let alone kiss) because today could not only be the day that you yourself and your partner are murdered, but that show of affection could be the thing that sets off someone to then go and massacre your community.

if we lived in a world without bigotry, particularly this kind of wildly unchecked racism, maybe. maybe this could be a statement to listen to, or at least think about.

the biggest problem I have with this, is how victim blaming it is.

he targets the entire message at the victims speaking out. he completely glossed over the actions of pewdiepie and focused the entire video on the message that “no matter how bad the person is, they deserve respect”

yet at no point did he call out bigots and tell them “no matter what you think of any minority, they are still human and deserving of respect”

he never addressed anyone besides those calling out bigotry.

and that’s where the problem really lies.

had this been a “hey nazis, jews are people too and deserving of respect, and hey jews nazis are still people too and deserving of respect” I’d have a lot less issue with this message. there’d still be some fucked up things in need of addressing, but at least then truly the intent would have been..at least there would have been an attempt at something good.

but instead this entire video is “hey jews, nazis are people too and deserving of respect” period, end of statement, all while using curse words and volume and clearly barely restrained anger (and everyone knows how violent and dangerous an angry man is).

The quest against bigotry and hate is a goal that I actively encourage. However, in the fight I see people losing sight of what connects us all.

Because I didn’t talk about what you WANTED me to talk about my entire message must have been invalid, wandering, and I must also be a bigot. But just because it wasn’t what you were looking for doesn’t mean there wasn’t something to learn, on both sides.

I can see that you don’t like me and I’m fine with that. I truly am. And I’m fine if you hate Felix too. That’s the honest truth.

But my message wasn’t about liking everyone you disagree with. I only encourage you to see a fellow human for the entire person that they are.

The main point of my video was that it’s so easy to label people. Because a label is a convenient, easy-to-consume description of a person’s entire existence. And know that I’m not saying people CAN’T be a bigot or a racist or a nazi or a sexist, but understand that when you apply these labels recklessly you gloss over the entirety of who a person is.

You miss the true depth of who they are as a person.

And while that depth may be terrible and their actions abhorrent, if you disrespect the fact that they are just as human as you are you will never learn anything from them. And understand that I’m not saying, “learn and replicate exactly what they’ve done” but rather learn who YOU are in the face of such actions.

It does nothing to label Felix a nazi and demand that everyone agree with you. That doesn’t create dialogue, that doesn’t encourage people to learn, and that definitely doesn’t lead people to help.

Does that mean you have to like and support him? Hell no. Condemn his actions all day long but NEVER FORGET that we are all EQUAL. And a label does not summarize the entirety of who we are.

I know this wont seem satisfying as a proper response, considering I didn’t counter-point the evidence you provided, but I’m not arguing against you about those facts.

Yes, evil exists. Yes, bigotry exists. Yes, people are murdered for it every day.

And I’m fighting against it. Whether you believe that or not, I’m fighting the same fight as you. Even if you think I’m naive, not fighting hard enough, defending the wrong people, I will still encourage you all to show each other the respect you would want for yourselves.

So for those of you who’ve gotten to the end of this long post and feel that I’m still wrong and completely missed the point, that’s fine. If you think I’m a terrible person for my opinion of Felix, that’s fine too. I’m proud of what I’m doing with my life and I’ll continue to fight for good and the equality of all. And I’ll continue to learn.

Just remember that if we want the world to be truly equal, we must all treat each other with respect.

Okay so if you guys didn’t already know there was a service like Lootcrate that been opened up by Red Giant called Zwagbox. The first box was going to be Markiplier themed and there was also a special edition poster that had been released that had Mark in an Army of Darkness pose.

Cool shit right? Sign me the fuck up!

I order my box in June for my birthday and Zwagbox stated that boxes would arriving towards the end of July.

So we waited

And waited

And waited

We were told things were on hold due to production delays, okay cool. The boxes would be coming soon, okay cool. I sent an email in asking when my poster would be arriving because honestly I was more excited about that than even the box.

September arrives, I get a subsciption renewal notification that causes my bank account to go into overdraft. It’s by Zwagbox.

My box hadn’t even been shipped yet and already they’re charging me for the next one? What fuck?

Finally on SEPTEMBER 8TH my box was shipped. Sent another email and again, no word about my poster.

And today on SEPTEMBER 15TH my box finally arrived and to be honest guys, I’m not impressed. I cancelled my lootcrate subscription in order to afford this instead and I’m regretting doing so a lot.

“Okay Woo we listened to you bitch, now what’s in the booooox?”

Okay here goes

1. A white tshirt in large. Looks like it’s for a game or something

2. The Giant size Markiplier comic that I already got a digital copy of when it came out last year. That’s cool but I’ll give it to a friend or include it in a giveaway on here

3. The Markiplier comic, okay cool!

4. A Flash action figure…okay I don’t watch the flash so I’ll give that to someone who does.

5. Two very tiny identical pins of the Army of Darknessesque posters. Okay, BUT WHERE IS MY ACTUAL POSTER GUYS?

6. A card of I, Mudd, a Star Trek book. Okay I like Star Trek and all but what do I do with this?

7. A fold out poster. Cool, but again, I’d like my actual “OMG LIMITED EDITION” 20 dollar poster please.

Now here’s the thing, Zwagbox said they were packing each box with 50 dollars worth of stuff to make up for the delays. And I feel like what they did is just packed it with whatever random crap they had sitting around.

I’m going to be cancelling my subscription because I’m honestly feeling ripped off. For the money I spent I could have gotten a poster off of redbubble that was designed by a fan, and it would have arrived in a timely manner.

 If the poster I ordered from Zwag ever does show up I’ll let you guys know.

I understand Zwagbox just started and there were bound to be hiccups, but I really suggest you guys save your money until they get their shit together.

I, along with many other people, have been subscribed to Red Giant Entertainment’s Zwagbox now for a number of months. However they are not delivering on their promises. I have paid for 3 boxes and have only received one. I subscribed because I was excited to receive Markiplier’s comic! Now, 3 months later I am still waiting for my other two boxes! Customer service is abysmal, the only contact I have been able to get with them is through their Facebook page and the reply I received was a copy pasted script. I don’t even know at this point if Markiplier even knows what the company are doing. He’s listed as a Director and Shareholder on their company page and in various legal documents that I’ve found through Google search.
