it/its is so cool

it's literally standard nautical practice to refer to just about any boat or ship ever as "she". people reflexively refer to fucking boats by she/her pronouns and give them women's names. fucking boats

people refer to cars with she and he constantly. people refer to trucks, construction equipment, computers, credit card readers, cell phones, and other objects with he/him pronouns. people AGGRESSIVELY use he/him pronouns for a LOT of animals and insects. if people aren't good at sexing animals or refuse to try a lot of the time they will just use he/him. like, constantly. it's actually honestly more common to hear people use he/him for animals than it is they/them or it/its at times.

i literally had the exact same experience beat for beat. i used it/they for a while but people were only using they so i went to it only and it still happens regardless. people will deadass look at you and go "it's less offensive if i call you they" after you've told them you literally don't use they/them pronouns. misgendering you is 'less offensive'. what?

this isn't about respect for trans people, this is about the comfort of everyone else. no one wants to accept that there really are people out there who want to be referred to by it/its pronouns like it's baffling. there is so much pushback it's unreal. and for what reason, i'll never know. it's everyone else prioritizing their discomfort over treating us correctly. their comfort matters more than ours, always

none of us care if using it/its for us makes you uncomfortable. using it/its for us does not make us uncomfortable that's why we are telling you to use that. especially when that's all we use. it says a lot about how that person thinks and how they use the word it. this sort of person generally uses it when they're misgendering people which is why they're so antsy about it

i have, and i do! :)

for a long time, i was using ze/hir, it/its and they/them as my primary pronouns, but people were only using they/them, which really got on my nerves. i do still use ze/hir pronouns, but i'm only putting those back on my public profiles until people start using it/its for me, because i'm tired of people running away from that pronoun set. it's the pronoun set that feels 100% accurate and people ignore it. so for now, i'm only publicly stating that i use it/its, but i do in fact also use ze/hir as well!

i have some alters that use a variety of neopronouns as well. we have some who use xe/xem and ze/zem. we have a few who use nounself pronouns, those that i know of use pup/pups, kit/kits, wolf/wolfs, paw/paws, moon/moons and doll/dolls! we actually collectively use pup/pups, but again, until people stop avoiding using our it/its pronouns, those are the only ones we're listing publicly.

i was literally about to type this exact thing up in a post: to avoid or refuse to refer to it/its users correctly is literally transphobia. to undermine an it/its user's wishes and statements about its own identity is transphobia. to police other people and tell them not to use it/its pronouns because you don't like it is transphobia. to tell an it/its user that you'll use they but not it for it is transphobia. telling an it/its user that their pronouns make you uncomfortable is transphobia.

they're cool and may be gender affirming for lots of us

they don't have to be dehumanizing

or may be non-humanizing (like in affirming way if someone feels detached from humanity / is nonhuman / etc.)

they may be reclaiming

they may be just cool pronouns that make someone comfortable

it/its pronouns deserve respect and usage to individuals who use them

I'm mad, and if you think someone hate-criming a trans woman is transmisogyny, but doing the same or worse to a trans man is misogyny. You are the problem.

they don't have to be "comfortable" to respect our pronoun set.
