Alright. This escalated to the point of... something I don't have words for. But it's over. Thankfully.
The issue was that the tesla driver doesn't have money to give for insurance or to repair the minivan because he invests all of his money in "memecoins" as suggested to him by Reddit. The minivan driver doesn't have patience for this, because he's taking his two daughters to see his sister and his sister's... wife? Spouse? Partner? I'm still not sure what that situation is. I assume wife.
After claiming the home security footage is just AI-generated to make him look bad, then that it's about politics and the entire Democratic party trying to make him look bad, and finally admitting he only has crypto currencies on hand, the tesla driver relented, called his mother, and gave her information to the minivan driver.
It seems like the tesla driver's mother is going to pay for it, with the agreement that the minivan driver won't contact insurance or authorities. I understand how difficult this is for a mother, but I'm wondering if this level of coddling is why he's... Like this. I don't think she should pay for it, but I'm glad it's getting paid, but... I don't know. Wouldn't that just get him out of consequences for his actions?
I gave the two daughters a tin of cookies to cheer them up, and they're both uninjured. I was worried they might be, because they were in the backseat when the tesla rear-ended the minivan, but they're alright.
So, after sorting that, the dad and his daughters are on their way, and I guess the tesla driver is too. But not before calling two of my neighbors and myself slurs for "silencing" him, somehow. (I never spoke to him.)
Oh well. I hope the girls and their dad have a nice trip. And I hope that mother gives her very much grown son a talking to.
Lastly... My lawn is frozen. Sigh.
