I do recall watching a translated press conference where Islam briefly mentions motorbikes and Khabib’s argument is basically that Islam takes too much time off, and that it sends a bad example to the rest of the team, and that it distracts Isu from the sport

it’s funny to me tho cause despite Khabib being very vocal about not liking it, Islam still rides and rides often, yet like I mentioned before, when Khabib didn’t like Abubakar gaming all night he literally smashed his computer

so again my khabisu deluded brain is telling me that as much as Khabib is worried about Islam, he knows that Islam loves it as a hobby so he doesn’t go as far as smashing his motorbikes

Khabisu during AKA era was really something, I miss those years, they were inseparable, there were many guys in the team also but when Khabib wanted to do something the first name that came out of his mouth was always Islam.

I like you mention Islam and Abdulmanap's relationship, many times he said Islam is more than a pupil for him as if he acknowledged Islam as his youngest son, there was an old video: https://youtu.be/3wgVfw-MCPQ?si=X02RCC01lVEI7ESr, when Islam arrived back home in Dagestan, manap had waited in the airport for him, and he saw islam carrying a heavy bag, he wanted to carry it but Islam refused and gave it to someone else. Manap was even slicing the meat and gave it to Islam first when they had dinner with Islam’s family 😭❤️

Islam is like a younger brother that Khabib wished he had. Meanwhile, Umar is Islam’s favourite little brother 🤣

I can’t remember who said it on here but whoever said they are like a married couple (esp when they go out to events together) is so so so so spot on. trust there is no one else in the world who Khabib would listen too like he does with Islam especially when it comes to trivial things like shoes but for whatever reason Khabib always gives in

again like a parent who can’t say no to their kid, it’s so sweet 😭 and from what they have said about their culture and what they have shown, age plays a huge factor in interactions. Islam said if somebody is even a day older than you, he is your elder and you must comply with what he says and treat him with respect

but he is a whole 3 YEARS YOUNGER than Khabib and somehow those rules just go out the window

Meanwhile Abubakar can’t even keep his gaming computer bc Khabib is his elder and got rid of it ~all the while~ Islam is telling Khabib what kind of shoes to wear and still riding his motorbikes even tho Khabib doesn’t like it 💀

and oh my god the aka years were soooooo the peak of khabisu 😭

I love you for saying this bc as much as I enjoy the content that comes out of Islam training in Dagestan/Russia now, the years where they really only had eachother in San Jose, going from house to house and sharing rooms at extended stay hotels, are just so much more peak compared to the lavish training camps they have now

And for Khabib especially… the years before Conor and the years before he became a mega superstar and before he became the coaching figure that he is now, are SO dear to me. It shows how much confidence they had in one another

Khabib was a nobody compared to who he is now and yet Islam always followed him and put his full faith in him because he knew they would become somebodies together 🥹

I mean literally just every day devoted to helping eachother become the best they could be, I’m sure they both look back on it as their closest years 😭 driving to practice together, training almost exclusively together, leaving practice together, cutting weight together, supporting eachother during their fight weeks… ahh

and yes!! I love love that clip of Islam arriving in Dagestan, to me it again shows the parallels between Khabib and Islam’s relationship and Abdulmanap and Islam’s relationship~ something about Islam just really brought/brings out the caretaker in the both of them

we saw how Khabib took on the roles that Abdulmanap had before he passed, and I always wondered since he saw how much his father loved Islam and took care of him, if he knew he had to take on the role of taking care of Isu too since his father no longer could 🥹🥹

I mean Khabib borderline spoils Islam, from buying his wardrobe to dropping millions on his training camps, you just don’t see him doing that for his other teammates

and so spot on about Umar and Islam haha, I think Islam really admires Umar as a person and who wouldn’t, Umar is just so pure. And I think since Umar lost to Merab and now has a loss on his record, Islam could especially relate to him and supports him now more than ever bc he sees himself in Umar 🤍

I always love it when they hug after a fight lol

omg that clip literally jump-started my khabisu delusions bc it was the first time I became acutely aware of how much Khabib goes for Islam’s waist when they hug/pose for photos and not to mention just how sweet and gentle like u said that moment was 😭

also if you haven’t seen it yet I did use that moment in my hozier edit of them amongst all their other post-fight hugs 🤭

it was such a hard fight for Islam, hopefully the hardest we will ever see, and the relief and love/admiration Khabib felt for Islam in those post-fights moments was so palpable

and I can’t even lie, I enjoy these kinds of interactions more than the fights themselves and when Islam eventually retires, it will be the thing that I miss most of all

like when Islam fought volk back to back without khabib the energy was just so off, Islam only seems happy about his wins when he has Khabib to share his happiness with

and that’s why the Dustin fight will always be special to me bc they were finally together again 😭😭
