“When I see you, I’m reminded of all my shortcomings.” Kinokuni Nene mutters stiffly.

She would admit this ever so often to Isshiki Satoshi, her childhood friend, rival and general frenemy. He is the gifted chef between the two of them while Nene earned everything she picked up.

“You don’t have to say it like a threat.” he always chuckled lightly.

None of her feelings has anything to do with Isshiki personally. Rather, they are insecurities about her own limitations—a fact that she has to slowly accept. He sensed this and made an effort to give her space after graduating from Totsuki, so that she could grow and see herself outside of their rivalry.

“Let’s go out for a drink after work. I’m in Tokyo for a few days.”

Isshiki frequently visits Tokyo for business and uses whatever spare time he has to go around and see friends. When he visits Kirinoya, Nene insists on staying inside kitchens. Hinako and Megumi literally have to drag her out when the restaurant closes in an attempt to get her some social interaction.

“Are you still mad at me?” he asks when he finally gets her alone.

Nene’s temper shoots through the roof and she pounds her fist onto the table. She gives Isshiki an accusatory glare before irately pursing her lips together. After all these years, it’s evident she still holds her frustrations about him deep inside of her.

“I can’t seem to shake it off. I feel like I’m 16 again when I see you.” she confesses, “I’m broadening my horizons and improving my cooking, but none of that seems to matter when I hear your name.”

Yuna struggles with her self-image the way Yuki did (and Ami will do anything in pursuit of skills/knowledge just like Marui).

Haruo is hedonistic to a fault just like Rindou (and Karin is a perfectionist like Eishi).

Well, in 2020 it was “Cool for the Summer” by Demi Lovato & “Blinding Lights” by the Weeknd, according to Spotify. 

Right now, I’m constantly jumping from playlist to playlist, all of them with differing moods and genres so it’s a little hard to answer to what I listen the most to right now. I suppose “Drive” by The Cars and “Out of Touch” by Daryl Hall & John Oates (which is one of my all-time favorite songs to begin with) have been on a lot more than others these past few months. I’ve also find myself listening a lot to the track “It’s That Simple” by the Robert Elovsson Quartet when I want to relax.

My favorite thing to draw would be my OTPs, because if no one else is going to feed me my sugar I’ll have to do it + while I’m not too good at it, I really like to place them into night scenes. 

My least favorite thing to draw is Terunori Kuga’s hair because good. lord. 

My favorite thing to write is fluff, fantasy and, idk, just the personal life of my OCs…?

My least favorite thing to write is…hm, angsty fight scenes between characters I consider comfort characters, I think…? I also tend to have my issue with scenes that include a larger group of characters…because it can be very challenging for me to keep track of everybody in the room and giving everyone a chance to talk.

My favorite thing to write is probably angst or like tragic stuff. I never graduated from my middle school self, so the pained, angsty youth is still very much present. With that, my least favorite is probably fluff tbh… I’m not good at it and it doesn’t rouse much from me (although fluff every now and then makes me happy)

[A collection of headcanons on what kind of music I imagine the characters of “Shokugeki no Soma” would be into by creating playlists with songs I feel they’d like]

I just really wanted to get them done because…yeah ahdhd. So here they are! We have some of the senpais at last! Yay!!

Nene Kinokuni: I’ve kept these playlists mostly English so far, but with Nene I think the Western music, she’d appreciate the most would honestly be classical music shshd. Nene’s playlist consists mostly of instrumental songs, because I just feel this would be what she’d listen to in her free time….I tried my best!

Satoshi Isshiki: “Yellow Submarine” came on when I was listening to smth on shuffle and I was like “I’m going to put this on Isshiki’s playlist” and from that point on, it sorta became a chill playlists of mostly 70s songs? I don’t know exactly why, but I feel he’d like songs like this…?

Terunori Kuga: Kuga was honestly the most challenging out of this bunch, because I can picture Kuga enjoying a great many things…he’s just so chaotic ahdhd. Given his hyper personality, I searched mostly for upbeat songs from various decades and also tried to include some Guilty Pleasure stuff. Because in my headcanon, Kuga is just a meme-lord.

Yes, it’s the 6th of January, meaning it is Nene Kinokuni’s Birthday and so…I drew something. I even tried my best to draw carnations and failed because I headcanon carnations to be her favorite flowers aside from camellias.
