Honestly the thing about the ps6 not having discs (and ps5 disk production stopping completely) and the next Xbox not having discs and Xbox rolling out a feature to turn your discs into digital licenses, which probably means the next Nintendo system whether it be a switch 3 or something brand new will be digital only. Is that I've been waiting a super long time for sequels to some of my favorite game franchises. Like series like Banjo Kazooie, Jak and Daxter, and Wario Land all received their last game in the late 2000's. It just sucks that whenever they do make a game in these series it's already likely that they'll be digital only and I don't want to spend 60$ 70$ or 80$ on a digital license that could be ripped away from me at any time.
Idk like I also feel like there's no point in a "next generation" anymore. Games already take a super long time to make and are crazy expensive. And like the difference between the ps4 and ps5 graphics wise is negligible at best so what's the point in getting better hardware? Does Red Dead Redemption 2 horse testicle physics need to be better? Like we've been able to see every character's face pores since 2012 how can we possibly beat that? Like I would honestly love more retro styles games. Triple A games styled like 5th or 6th gen graphics. In between major graphically intensive releases.
And like they could announce a game that seems really good and then they say "oh btw we used gen ai to make background assets or to write the story" which just sucks because I will not buy anything with gen ai in it. I don't care if it's a single texture. I like games as art and analysing them. Fuck Crazy Taxi 3 and the new Tomb Raider or the Halo remaster. Why would I fucking play a game you couldn't even bother to hire people to make?
Like idk man, I'm going to keep buying physical games until they stop making them and then I'm good. I could just buy games off eBay or re play the games I already own
