Cory from Detroit, Times Square, NYC. I met Cory and his friends shooting in Times Square while I was running my first roll through a Nikon F I’d just bought. It was their first visit to NYC. I asked what they were shooting and they said Ektachrome. In his Zenit maybe, but I doubt that’s what he had loaded into his Autocord. His friend was shooting a Nikon F with no prism finder! Definitely Frugal Photography!

Michelle. Sometimes in photography you get happy accidents. I’m not sure what happened here, but I love the outcome.
This past weekend I gave myself the task of taking my Sears KS-2 with a Sears Auto f/1.7 50mm lens into Times Square to take some street portraits. Some were posed though most were not.

I gave myself an assignment this afternoon, to take my Rolleiflex with a mostly-unexposed HP4 and to go take some portraits. That’s still something I’m not good at but I’m working on it and here I did. And I did ok. There’s a lot to try and juggle when attempting to photograph someone on the street, especially with an old vintage analog camera with no meter. Interacting and setting up, getting ready at the same time. Anyway, thank you to those who let me take a portrait.

As an avid thrift store shopper I’m always looking for cheap cameras. Usually it’s film cameras, but recently I found a nice Lumex Panasonic DMC-ZS1, with a case, for $5. The picture above was taken with it.
