Recent work: glow in the dark yarn and sparkle vinyl piping tote bags; vintage automotive vinyl tote bag (guessing it’s from a bench seat vehicle because the pattern repeats horizontally); card case wallets, zippie pouch wallets in ID size; velour zippies with hand embroidered blossoms; passport case. #vinylbags #bagmaker #zippies #wallet #tote #bag #totebag #nakatsubyjna #bluegenieartbazaar #handmade #austintx #AustinTexas

Using Stick N’ Stitch dissolving Fabric-Solvy to transfer sashiko style patterns to the vinyl tote bag panels I cut, there are residual glue staining/marks where the edge of the sheets were but otherwise it’s working well. I am cutting them out now instead of using the whole sheet to see if that improves it. Using glow in the dark yarn, and if it’s not too fragile I plan to use glow in the dark piping on the edges.
Made patterns for two sizes of belt bags, 6.5”x5”x2” and 8.5”x5”x2”. Small is gold sparkle vinyl, large is silver vinyl with glow in the dark vinyl; and animal character print vinyl.

Finished my third earthly sweater which is 3.5”-4” longer than my first earthly sweater. My second earthly sweater is also the longer body length. Love the pattern! I am now on to other knit projects, but now have a sweater for me (the short one) and two sweaters for my sons. Pattern is by Erika Knight for Rowan, and she has a similar sweater pattern (here’s another) (and for women) for sale on ravelry.
Matrix is the next distressed/dropped stitch sweater in my queue, trying to understand the pattern now as it has charts for the increases and decreases, and is fitted with dropped stitch darts.
Made a larger size belt bag as well, smaller ruby red sparkle with glow in the dark stripe is 6.5”x5”x2”, charcoal sparkle with a silver white sparkle stripe is 8.5”x5”x2” #handmade #vinylbags #beltbag #sewing #bagmaker

Finished all pieces of my Earthly distressed drop stitch sweater round 2! Made it 4” longer at my son#2’s request, I expect shrinkage in length after I wash/block/dry, I’m sure it will get washed in hot at some point so I’m preshrinking it. These photos are unblocked. This is made of Lerchiyar cotton/linen/bamboo that I got on Amazon.
Working on my second Earthly sweater (gray) in bamboo/cotton/linen, Son #2 wanted it 4” longer, so I added 10cm. Will have to see how much this one shrinks up washed on hot, the first Earthly sweater (blue) shrunk up 4”? My sons will inevitably wash in hot water at some point, so I’m trying to account for shrinkage. Swatch for first Earthly didn’t shrink much but the actual sweater did, Son #1 can still wear it, but I plan to knit him a longer one too and keep the first sweater. That’s a lot of knitting.

Survey: Q1 How big is your phone? What else would you carry in a belt bag? I made some that fit my iPhone 11 hard case (6.5”x5” x2”), but know other people carry bigger phones and more stuff...
Q2 These fit 32-43” waist (adjustable). In future bags what waist size range should I make? Maybe a 28” and up? Or 26” to includes kids? (I’ll look at garment sizes too. I want to fit the widest range possible.) I could also make a belt extender for people larger than the range… PS. The red sparkle bag has a glow in the dark stripe! Thanks infinitely in advance!
The reason your crochet garments don’t have a nice drape like knitwear does is because you’re using yarn that’s too large. Use thinner yarn.
Finished back panel of my Earthly distressed drop stitch sweater! I will look for my foam tiles to block to confirm it measures to the schematic; then block by machine wash warm and tumble dry when sweater is finally assembled. Yarn is Patons Linen (linen/cotton/viscose) in Sky colorway. Making a size larger (XL instead of Lg) in case of shrinkage when my son inevitably washes in hot water.
Kind of obsessed with drop stitches/ladders right now, planning on making the Matrix sweater (Boadecia Binnerts) next.

My mom's book club read a book called Snow Flower and the Secret Fan years ago. She saved it for me to read and it was one of those stories that stuck with me. Without giving the plot away, a 19th-century Chinese girl exchanges secret coded messages back and forth on a silk fan. It reminded me o
Been finishing up projects in the New Year! Finished my glow-in-the-dark Hardly Harness I started in August, a latch hook pillow (started Christmas of 2019 or 2020) and am keeping a list of WIPs so they don’t get lost in the cracks. And here is a briefbag I made using vintage automotive vinyl!

I taught myself to crochet last year and have been making small things, amigurumi and washcloths. These are a few recent makes, the donut is from Cute Crocheted Food and the fortune cookie (I made it into a stick pin) is from Crochet Cafe. The goldfish No Sew Cat Toys are from ravelry. I still have to refresh myself with stitch diagrams whenever I take on more than a sc, so I’m a newbie, and the Cute Crocheted Food book uses UK crochet terminology (dc=sc US) but I’m pleased with what I’ve made so far. I am a longtime knitter, so I have the hand/eye dexterity to improve quickly. I’ve been wanting to make this animal eyeglass tray I saw on red note, this looks pretty similar.
I was commissioned to make these dolls and dog for @pedalsteelnoah and am pretty happy with how they turned out, am working on a diorama for them (pedal steel guitar, Texas flag, etc), like what I made for this genie and lamp I made. So far I like working in DK weight yarn, though the Woobles kits I made used a really nice worsted yarn it was easy to see the stitches. I think it will be a while before I tackle something bigger like a garment or blanket, the largest thing I’ve made is a granny square scarf, and a jellyfish amigurumi.
