Finn was on his way to the bakery to grab his favorite croissant before starting work. It was something he looked forward to everyday, and he could barely contain his excitement. When he arrived at the shop, he saw that they had just put out a fresh batch, which smelled amazing. While making his way to the counter, he found himself colliding with another, and when he looked down, he saw that a cake had landed on his shoes. Always one to brush things off, he let out a chuckle and his eyes met the woman’s. “No, no, don’t worry about it. It’s fine,” he reassured her. “I am literally the clumsiest person you’ll ever meet so I totally get it.” 

bella really wanted the ground to swallow her up whole; it wasn’t the first time she’d dropped one of juni’s creations, and was reminded of just how many hours were spent into it. but thankfully, the person whose shoes had the unfortunately coating of icing on didn’t seem to be too upset about it -- the fact they laughed gave bella an instant sigh of relief. “oh thank god,” she sighed, “honestly, i don’t know what’s wrong with me. i’m sure i just have... zero spatial awareness,” bella admitted. “i really don’t even know how i’ve managed to last thing long here, honestly. would it be cheeky to ask if you can help me clean the evidence before my boss sees? anything you want, it’ll be on the house to say thank you.”

“i know, right?” willa throws it right back. “it’s not like it’s all old folks in here. and i really need a new vibrator,” she laughs. not one to care if she’s oversharing or not, she’s an open book. transparent. but maybe too much. “evermore? oh! folklore! yeah, we have that. she even signed a few ones and shipped them over to so many indie record shops. let me see if we have a signed one for your sister,” willa smiles and turns around to the back of the counter where they keep the most solicited albums. “taylor, taylor, taylor, where are you hiding?” she whispers to herself. “found it!”

“girl, i feel you on that,” isabella agreed with a chuckle, she was never one to shy away from that conversation. she was very much in the mindset that sex shouldn’t be considered a taboo topic. “that’s the one! folklore -- i haven’t listened to it myself, but then again, i think i’m stuck in the wrong era? my playlist consists of the beach boys and the rolling stones.” she admitted. as willa then announced she’d found the record, bella placed a hand to her heart, “oh my god, you haven’t! fuck, she’s gonna be so fucking excited,” and it might help her sister forgive her for moving halfway across the world. so maybe it was more of a bribe than a gift. “and it’s signed? alright, she can never hate me ever again now. you’re a darling for finding it, thank you.”

working at the bakery was something of a challenge for isabella; she’d not been here too long, maybe a few weeks at most and it was really a case of convincing the owner to give her a chance. could bella bake? not exactly, but she was willing to get stuck in and learn. today, however, she was working at the cash register and serving customers, one of whom was picking up a custom order. the grl disappeared into the back to fetch it, carrying the box as carefully as she could as she brought it out to the front, only for her foot to trip beneath her and the cake inside tumbling onto the floor with a splat. “oh my god! oh my god. i am... so sorry.”

Aly had finished her shift at nine that evening, having been there since the place had opened. Being her, however, she wasn’t quite ready to be going home, instead opting to spend the next few hours on the other side of the bar, knocking back a few drinks and spending the night dancing away with whoever would give her the pleasure of their company. “Come on.” She stated, lifting the others glass from their hand and placing it on the bar, before pulling them into towards the middle of the floor. “The least you can do is come and dance with me.”

“aly, you know i have two left feet,” bella whined, and before the girl could tug her to the floor, she quickly picked up her glass to knock back what was left in it with one gulp. part of her felt... too old to be dancing in a rock bar, not when she could be tucked up in bed beneath the duvet with a mug of hot chocolate in her hands. “where do you get your energy from? i mean it, i need some tips!”

“hey, hey, hey!” willa greets the person who has just walked into rose records. she’s been working here for a year, and she likes the stability. she especially loves being surrounded by great music and getting to pick the playlists that everyone will listen to throughout the day. the other looks either excited or confused, she can’t really tell. “are you looking for something specific?” willa asks. “or are you lost and thought this was a sex shop? it happens,” she jokes with a laugh.

rose records was one of the stores that bella rarely found herself wandering in; she’d always been a streaming type, aside from the walkmans she had as a kid where the cd would always skip, but today she was after a specific record. “you know, now you mention it, why doesn’t this town have a sex shop?” she joked, before throwing her hands up, “oh, i’m losing my mind because i promised my sister i’d find her the new taylor swift album. the first new album, i think. i don’t know, but i feel like it’s a lost cause because everywhere is sold out.”
