Noah Wyle fans, if you haven’t watched Falling Skies, you really, really should…

It’s not The Pitt in terms of acting or writing, but it’s a fun sci-fi ride, with great characters, including Noah’s Tom Mason. He’s really sexy in it. Lots of whump and emotion, with a satisfying if somewhat rushed ending.

I just think if Jack was out there having random hook ups he’d want to be as safe as possible. PrEP is Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis, it reduces the risk of getting HIV (in this case from sex but also from drug use)

PrEP is (mainly but not exclusively) taken by people who do not have HIV, it prevents the virus from taking hold and spreading if exposed during sex (or injection drug use)

Jack is a physician, he wants to have safe and responsible sex. Condoms are also tagged as part of his health practices

PrEP can be as easy as an injection every six months (there’s other ways of taking it, like daily pills) and it would cost Jack nothing to protect himself

I think PrEP is a good way of destigmatizing HIV and casual sex, especially in the gay community, and more common than one might think, it’s just that people don’t really talk about it openly

Grindr has that little section you can fill, with your HIV status, when you were last tested and what health practices you use. It’s completely up to you if you fill it or not but it’s a good way to let other people know all these things without judgment

• They met while Jack was mated to his wife, and Robby felt guilty for crushing on him

• After she died, Robby took care of Jack while he went through the pseudo rejection sickness/bond breaking that comes with the death of a mate

• Over the next few years, Jack never dated anyone, but Robby did and he made it very clear when he disapproved of whatever alpha or beta was worming their way into Robby’s life

• (he disapproved every time, but he could hide it better than others sometimes)

• They started rooming together during Covid bc Robby was losing his mind being alone all the time, not that he’d admit that, but Jack could tell

• It’s all fine and dandy until Robby is in heat and Jack isn’t allowed to leave the house

• Omegas in menopause are something else… that biological need to get pregnant one last time… Robby was locked in his room crying and begging for it while he took care of himself and Jack was going crazy sitting outside his door like a perverted guard dog

• He shamefully jerks off to the memory of the sounds and smell once Robby is back at work

• Jack has liked Robby for a while, but now he needs to court him. That’s his omega.

• The problem: Robby’s confidence is shot to shit

• He has a soft, almost undetectable scent (whipped cream, sweet and classically omega, but not strong) and combine with his physique, he gets mistaken for a beta, or even an alpha, pretty frequently

• Plus years of trying and failing to find a mate, the abandoned dream of pups. Yeah Robby doesn’t think he’s worth any alpha’s time

• Especially not an alpha like Jack, who looks and acts like he was built in a lab to be every omega’s dream

• He distracts himself with an alpha that couldn’t give to shits about him, and Jack hates it

• Robby comes home smelling like expired cream every time he sees the alpha, but he insists it’s fine

• It all comes to a head when the alpha picks him up from the ED, Jack over hears something nasty, and suddenly there’s a brawl in the ambulance bay

• Robby is tending to Jack’s wounds at home, despite the alpha’s insistence that he’s fine

• Robby is damn near in his lap cleaning a cut on his forehead and Jack tumbles through an impromptu speech about how much Robby means to him and how desperate he is for the chance to court him

• Jack is pulling out his cutest 🥺 while Robby stares at the floor in silence

• Robby makes him swear he’s 100% certain because if Jack leaves him like his other alpha’s did it might actually kill him
