Then after a rough, extra tiring shift, Robby kisses Jack’s cheek on instinct as a goodbye.

Who’s gullible enough to set Myrna loose? Thank fuck for Perlah’s intervention. And he’s so pretty. Like big Bambi eyes and all good intentions. He’s still the same size but he’s also only three apples tall.

Not everyone falls for him, obviously. But they’re all endeared. And he’s so nice and cheerful. Then he sees Benton and it’s like those dog videos where they release a hundred tennis balls and they just go wild.

He’s walking right next to Benton, literally brushing up against him. He’s just locked on to the chief and Benton doesn’t seem to mind? He’s just going about his day. Doing consults. Bickering with Al-Hashimi about patients.

Robby’s role is reduced to that of a med student but he’s got the muscle memory of a Chief which leads to him making ridiculous saves and being flabbergasted about it. Benton’s there for one of them and he gives him a typical, “Good boy.” If Robby could float from just good energy he would.

There’s a group chat dedicated to his antics.

Benton sees it as a bit of a redemption on his part. He’s kinder to this Carter, less walled off and quicker to praise. It seems like he flourishes under the new treatment.

Meanwhile Jack’s gnawing at the dry wall. Here’s this Robby, innocent, ambitious, so fucking brilliant, and alive in a way his Robby hasn’t been for years. And he’s practically glued to Benton! The injustice of it all.

At least this Robby seems flustered when Jack flirts with him. It’s really quite adorable.

He’s shy and does that running away thing that looks like just avoidance in older Robby. With baby Robby it’s just endearing. And may trigger some latent prey drive instinct in Jack.

Dana whacks him with a folder, or a book if it’s within reaching distance. She and McKay have formed an alliance to protect young Robby from basically the entire hospital. No joke, every single person who’s interacted with young Robby walks away smitten and trying to find an excuse to see him again. Even Walsh is not immune.

Garcia takes a more, cat who’s found a new exciting mouse to torment, but still!

Their only allies are Gloria and HR, who are stressed. At least patient satisfaction scores are up by 40%.

“Mike, what the hell are you doing,” Jack asked as he watched Robby drag the coffee table away from the center of the living room, empty beer cans tipping over in the process.

“You know exactly what I’m doing, Jack,” Robby replied, a giddy smirk on his lips. He pushed the coffee table snug against the wall before heading to the record player. He pulled L-O-V-E by Nat King Cole off the shelf, his copy in a worn and tattered case originally belonging to his grandmother. Carefully sliding the record from its case, Robby placed it on the record player and turned around to face Jack.

“Mikey, you cannot be serious,” Jack said, eyebrow raised and fighting the smile tugging at his lips as Robby walked toward him.

“Oh, please, you love it,” Robby said as he walked behind Jack, grabbing the handles of his wheelchair. “You ready?”

“Whenever you are,” Jack said as he settled into his seat.

Robby smiled as he tipped Jack’s chair up such that the front wheels were off the ground and began spinning them around the room.

Robby was singing along as he danced the two of them through the living room. Jack had a smile on his face, head tipped back to see Robby, laughing as Robby adjusted his movements in time with each song on the record.

They didn’t do this all that often. Jack knew Robby loved it, even if it took a couple beers in his system for him to act on it, but Jack just didn’t use his wheelchair regularly enough. He was beginning to wonder if maybe he should listen to Robby’s insistence he use it more at home; just so he could see the unadulterated joy on his partner’s face when they did this.

As the record came to an end, Robby tipped Jack’s chair back one last time and lent down. Jack tilted his head back far enough to meet Robby in a kiss, soft and tender, smiles on both their lips.

“You’re cute when you dance,” Jack said against Robby’s lips.

“Yeah?” Robby said with a laugh as he set Jack’s chair back down and came around to the front.

“Yeah, maybe I’ll let you do it more.”

Robby leaned down to kiss Jack again before pulling back to speak, “I’d like that.” His eyes were crinkling at the corners as he smiled, Jack couldn’t think of a prettier sight.

“But I’m picking the record next time,” Jack teased.

Noah Wyle fans, if you haven’t watched Falling Skies, you really, really should…

It’s not The Pitt in terms of acting or writing, but it’s a fun sci-fi ride, with great characters, including Noah’s Tom Mason. He’s really sexy in it. Lots of whump and emotion, with a satisfying if somewhat rushed ending.

Did I mention he’s super sexy in it?
