Tony in Avengers: finds out there are threats beyond what the avengers can handle.
Tony in iron man 3: spends half the movie battling his own fear of what is in space and getting ready for a threat he knows is coming.
no one is paying attention.
Tony in age of Ultron: Walks off a fear attack that leaves Steve and Natasha weak and unable to fight. He sees his worst fear and instead of sitting around doing nothing he takes action. Bruce helps him TRY to create Ultron.
All of their attempts fail and Ultron creates himself.
Tony in civil war: Still aware there is a massive global threat coming, he continues to take strides to protect the world. Funding the future, working in conjugation with 100+ government agencies in an effort to bring in more Avengers to help protect the world from Thanos.
He goes as a friend to help, it becomes very clear that Steve never thought of them as friends.
Steve leaves Tony to die.
Tony in infinity war: he was ready. The time he bought gave the rogues a CHANCE to respond. They still failed.
Tony in endgame: despite being close to death the other avengers spend more time harassing him to find the answers then they spend looking for their own. Tony give a clear answer that he was, in fact, right to be afraid of thanos. That he has spent the better part of the last decade getting ready for this fight that he knew was coming and points out that even the bare minimum of what Steve said he was going to do, didnāt happen.
Tony retires, he did his part.
The avengers drag him out of retirement, they cant do it without him. He gives in, creates time travel.
He saves the day once again, gives his life so the rest of the universe can have theirs. Gives up the retirement he had fought so hard for.
Tony in far from home: itās easy to blame the dead, after all they cant defend themselves.
Tony fired an unstable man. This man does massive amounts of harm to the world. That is not Tonyās fault(Iām serious. This is victim blaming and while this is a low stakes situation, this kind of thinking has serious real life repercussions). Beck made his own choices and he can scream that hes doing it because of Tony Stark, but remember. He waited for Tony to be dead to make his move.
Peter is nearly killed. He knows itās not Tonyās fault. He misses his mentor more and more every day.
EDITH was created, it wasnt perfect and Tony wasnt around to fix it. Thatās ok, unfinished projects happen. Nick Fury was the one who decided to pull it out, not Tony.
We will never know what Tony wanted. Stop hanging a dead man.
