it feels like a rom-com

okay, you're pretty cheesy. you love big romantic gestures, and dramatic confessions of love. but you also love the little moments, like going grocery shopping together. to put it simply, you love love. you have such a big heart, and it overflows with affection - not just romance, either. you make everyone you talk to feel loved. you're quite the optimist, and believing in true love and soulmates and forever. you're probably a little insecure, but i promise you are beautiful, inside and out, as cliche as that sounds. i hope you know that.

For all his complaining - all of his insults, and threats - Ghirahim is incredibly protective of his Master. At first, Dark simply attributed it to their contract, as the demon blade was bound to serve the hero’s darker counterpart whether he liked it or not. If the shade were to be entirely honest, he’d expected Ghirahim to harbor nothing but resentment towards the being he’s forced to serve, like a hound who only obeys its Master so long as he remains chained.

And yet, there are moments that remind him that’s not the case - such as now, as he struggles to fend off several Yiga who he’d been unfortunate enough to catch the eye of. Normally, he’d have had little trouble fending off one or two of the ridiculous buffoons, with a century of survival and combat experience making quick work of the problem. An entire platoon of these Sheikahn rejects, however?

That’s, unfortunately, a different story - and had he been alone, things might have quickly gone south. It was as he was in the midst of fending off several Yiga Footsoldiers that a flash of movement appeared out of the corner of his eye, the glint of a longsword descending towards him as a Blademaster sought to cut the hero’s doppelganger down while he was distracted. Without enough time to dodge, Dark braces himself for the unavoidable pain that's to come, and whatever else accompanies it--

Only to feel nothing as a metallic ringing fills the air, and suddenly, a tall figure stands between Dark and the Yiga Blademaster.

It takes but an instant for Dark to recognize Ghirahim humanoid form with his arms, coated in black metal, crossed over in front of his face. The shade needn't see the demon sword's expression to know that Ghirahim's features were curled into a smirk - a dangerous one that belayed just how absolutely fucked the foolish swordsman was. The thought alone causes something to stir in the pit of Dark's stomach, a sensation that he knows has no place in the midst of a battlefield.

And yet, here it was, like a fire that fully ignited as Ghirahim cut Dark's attacker down with the ease of a tiger striking down a rabbit. The sight of their strongest fighter practically split in two is enough to send the rest of the Yiga scrambling away with their lives, which is a tad disappointing - he always enjoyed gutting Ganondorf's little fan club. He might have given chase, had a cold hand not caught his bicep, pulling Dark back and drawing his crimson gaze back to meet with the sword spirit's.

"What? I'm fine."

"Shut up and let me look at you." For someone who insisted on referring to Dark as Master, Ghirahim seemed to have no problem making demands. Though he rolls his eyes somewhat petulantly, the shade stills nonetheless, one ivory brow raising as Ghirahim takes his sweet time looking him over.

"Y'know, if you're not careful, I might start thinkin' that you actually care." The comment, made mostly as a joke, causes the sword spirit to stiffen, the one hand on Dark's arm tightening slightly and then, in a flash, the second darts out to snatch the shade's face. Once more, their eyes meet, though this time, it's as Ghirahim's grip turns the shadowy swordsman's face towards him. Again, Dark feels that heat rising within him as the demon sword seems to glare daggers into his eyes.

"That's not funny," the spirit hisses, and Dark feels Ghirahim's breath against his lips, "so do not joke about it. I'm not going to let anyone hurt you."

Yet, despite the older being's tone, Dark feels a grin tugging at the corners of his lips. "Sorry. It's kinda hot when you get all pissy like that."

It's the opposite of resentment, though neither of them have dared to speak the word for what exists between them out loud.
