Need some advice...
I need some dude advice (I promise I have fandom stuff coming your way too, I just need to get this out there)...
A few weeks ago I met a guy on Tinder and we really hit it off. The next day I texted him to tell him I had a good time... heard nothing back. Then a week later I sent him an article about something he'd said he was interested in. He said "OMG I didn't get your last message, I'm sorry. Do you want to hang out again soon?"
So the following week I went over to his place. We didn't hook up (it was shark week) but did everything else. Again, had a great time, he drove me home. He texted the next day to tell me he'd had a great time and that now he'd have high expectations any time we went out because he had a good time. A few more days of flirting... then another lull.
I message him again and he said "Hey I've been so busy!" and went to the trouble of telling me everything he'd been up to and asked me out for the following night. We both ended up having to cancel because of work.
That was a week ago. I texted him last Friday and said "Hey we should get together this weekend if you're free!" and I haven't heard anything back.
Now, if this was any other dude I'd be like "Well, looks like I got ghosted." But given that this has happened a couple of other times where he was just busy or didn't get my messages and he still asked me out afterwards, should I give him that benefit of the doubt? I'm not really concerned about whether or not he "cares enough about me to text" because we're totally not there yet, it's not that serious and I don't believe in all that "let him chase you" shit. But I DO really really like this dude and we both admit we have a great time together and I'm down to be the assertive one and express interest, I just don't want to scare him off.
My question is - do I text him again? What the hell do I say? Normally I'm pretty good at this shit but I really like this guy. 😑

If you think we're acting superior over fic deletion, please consider this
People don’t delete fics because they are cutting ties. It’s perfectly possible to leave a fandom and keep your old fic around. We delete fics because we’re ashamed and don’t want them tied to our name anymore. Which, sometimes that’s a deserved feeling, in cases of outright harmful or bigoted works. But sometimes it’s not. Sometimes it’s betrayal and shame from being tricked like this, or feeling sure that no one will ever want to read them again that drives people to delete.
Reassuring writers that their hard work was done with love and in good faith with what we were told is nothing to be ashamed of isn’t condescending. It isn’t being superior or saying we’re better than. It’s offering comfort and reassurance to people who are reeling after being lied to. The people begging writers are not being superior, they’re terrified that the fandom that has helped them to cope with the show falling apart is about to disappear – not that anyone but the author is entitled to make the final decision.
And the fic writers speaking up to say that they’re leaving their fics up, or continuing to write are trying to give comfort and cover for other writers, so they know that they won’t be out there alone. We’re saying that it’s okay not to feel ashamed of the things we wrote based on the canon and assurances and theory that we had. And we’re doing it to show our defiance in the face of getting duped.
No one is saying anything scary or delusional and no one is saying that it’s wrong to be upset. We’re all upset. But it completely okay to say that none of us have anything to be ashamed of. Shame is a completely different thing than upset, or feeling done with the show, and no one deserves that.
