i'm genuinely scared for her whenever she inevitably gets her memory back.

i often think about the lyric “i know you love her, but she was my sister first” from ethel cain's song “janie,” and how it applies so well to maysilee and merrilee. in the arena, maysilee said that she'd be haymitch's sister. but i think about the impact that had to have had on merrilee, her twin sister. and not to mention haymitch mistaking merrilee for maysilee after maysilee's death. because while maysilee was undoubtedly LIKE a sister to haymitch, she was merrilee's sister FIRST. i wonder, what kind of feelings did merrilee have towards haymitch after hearing maysilee proclaim herself as haymitch's pseudo-sister knowing that he was the one with her in her final moments, not her. did she feel resentment towards him? or did she accept him? because after all, he did ally with maysilee and comforted her in her final moments so that she wouldn't be scared or alone. i think merrilee would take some comfort in knowing that maysilee didn't die scared or alone, and that she had someone by her side the entire time. but i can also understand why merrilee would hold some resentment towards haymitch. because in maysilee's final moments, she was haymitch's sister, not hers. i think that'd be such an interesting dynamic to explore.
