everyone i see talking about flowery deltarune keeps being like "i hate this guy but i'm sure tumblr loves him" but honestly? looking at his design and characterization, i don't think we're supposed to be going crazy over him. he's far too obviously an overdone anime twink sexyman, he's so over-the-top that i think we're supposed to hate him. he's what tumblr would've done with flowey back in the era when we were turning bill cipher into a skinny white twink (if not for the whole actually being asriel thing). but these days, the deltarune fandom is much more into characters that are at least kind of freaks (see: tenna and spamton). flowery meanwhile is a conventionally attractive anime boy with a slick and smooth demeanor. flowery is so aggressively appealing that he wraps back around to being obnoxious. and i think that's rather the point.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand The Amazing Digital Circus. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of mental health issues most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Jax's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Bugs Bunny, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike The Amazing Digital Circus truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Jax's existencial catchphrase "You all are my playthings," which itself is a cryptic reference to I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Gooseworx's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them. 😂 And yes by the way, I DO have a The Amazing Digital Circus tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.
