Then he stretched out one arm towards her, just brushing her sleeve with his fingertips. The curve of his mouth said he was still playing, but his eyes were more serious, almost plaintive. “Lay with me? I might be convinced to pretend to try, then.”

“Well, Eponine… Let’s get you out of the cold, alright?” Combeferre offered, usually he would have headed for the Musain, but he doubted it was still open - and even though he was sure that Musichetta wouldn’t mind him using their usual room at such an hour; he knew for a fact that there would be no chance he could obtain food for her there; so instead he settled to offer his apartment as an option. At least there he could guarantee she would be warm, safe, and he would be able to offer her something warm to eat. “My apartment isn’t far - I can get you something to eat and you can rest a while… Are you okay to walk?” He offered his arm as a form of support, though unsure if she would take it.
