The thiefâs gaze was fixed on the ancient documents before     him, fingers carefully tracing along the lines and words written     in an language thatâs long since gone. Translating the entire     script was going to be difficult, but certainly not impossible.
Heâs ready, eager to get started on the task⌠but that was     before she uttered her words, breaking the silence he needed     in order to continue. ââReally â now?ââ He asks, frowning as he     turns to face her. ââItâs been, what? Two hours?ââ
She frowned at first, that little wrinkle in between her brows letting itself known as seconds passed, hazel eyes never leaving the otherâs. Sure, it had been two hours, though it wasnât like she had any control over when her stomach demanded to be fed by the vitamins and nutrients that exist.
Most especially during the course of the time when women hate being... well, women.
âYou canât expect me to be full after a meal like that,â Technically, she should be, however, âBesides, starvation has no boundaries!â

@atreasurethief
Her gaze was steady on him, a single thought swirling within the walls of her mind.
Was she going to say it? Was she daring enough to let him know of her weakness as of that moment?
â--- Nate,â She began, a slight shift in her    position, âIâm hungry,â And out came the truth.

â This isnât anything to worry about, Raine. â
Donât pick at it. The brutal slash across his chest appeared as a brutal fork of bloody lightning and it had healed considerably before sheâd laid eyes on it. Lucky for him.
â Hey, at least they didnât go for the face. Â Thatâs the moneymaker, right there. â
Derek knows that this is just a game they play, but at the same time he wants to assuage her fears. He couldnât tell her not to worry, but he could ease it away.
âYeah, well keep at it, and Iâll go for that    moneymaker,â And she would, that was    something assured in consideration to    her own skill set.
Though in saying that, sheâd probably go at it by ravishing such features with a considerable amount of kisses.
Not that she was ever going to say such out loud.
âSeriously, ânothing to worry aboutâ, he    says,â Around and about the apartment    she moved, muttering words beneath    her breath. She shanât show emotion,    most especially not when it comes to    him for God knows how he has managed    to become a form of weakness for her.
Fuck.
@isoltion
âYou could have called me before actually wounding    up at my front door,â A pause, two glasses of wine in    each hand as she approached the other, âSo, what do        I owe the pleasure of your company, Kaz?â
@hale-the-king
âAll Iâm saying is that you need to be more careful    next time, Derek. What if I wasnât here to kiss all    your boo-boos? What about then?â
She was teasing, of course. A coping mechanism, nonetheless, a way to hide the truthful fear beneath the words.

[ Dropping by because I suddenly miss this stupid muse of mine. eue ]
Expect me to come back the day before my museâs birthday without realising that itâs actually her birthday tomorrow.
He wasnât sure what he was expecting. Outrage? Fury? For her to unleash all the hurt and suffering she had on him, to tear apart that little cafe in her wrath? Or maybe it was joy that he wanted to see. For her to throw her arms around his neck, to kiss him senseless, for things to be exactly the same.
He wasnât expecting the quizzical stare, one reserved for curious strangers. He wasnât prepared for the complete and utter lack of recognition. He wasnât ready for his heart to break under that innocent smile.
âThank you,â he said instead. Maybe Raine was just pretending. Maybe it was a rouse. If it was, Garrett would just have to play along. Surely one of them would break before long? Perhaps it would be one of their passive banters from when theyâd first been acquainted, laced with unspoken soliloquies and all the hurt of past experiences.
âIf itâs trouble, I can just move somewhere else. You donât have to be nice,â Garrett mused, gesturing vaguely to the mess of papers dominating the tiny table theyâd occupied so many times before. âSeems like riveting stuff.â He cracked a knowing smile, clearly referencing that heâd caught her in the act of not paying attention.
She watched him take a seat, the smile never leaving her face until that strange inkling made itself known much louder and stronger, as if it were demanding for her attention. It was like it wanted for her to listen, to move back and away, create a reason just for her to escape his presence. But it wasnât a gut feeling either, not like the ones sheâd get whenever something bad was bound to happen.
She had no idea what is was, but it was certainly there. Nevertheless, she ignored it as the dimples of her cheeks returned, noticing an edge of familiarity with the man. Had she known him? Was he part of the memories long gone? Raine should ask, but with a doubtful mind, she hesitated letting out the questioning words of wonder to escape her throat. No, if he had known her, he wouldâve said something that conveyed of such fact.
So far, they were simply two strangers.
âOh,â A quiet laugh was then let out, hands scouring the tabletop in order to put her papers into place, âYeah, just trying to find my sense of things,â With a sharp movement of her elbow, the then-cooled coffee had almost been tipped off. Though even with a slightly distracted mind, Raineâs reflex weaved itself within her muscles and caught the cup, spilling just a bit of the liquid on her skin. Fortunately, it was just that; cooled coffee.Â
âI apologise for the mess. But no, no trouble at all.â
gloaming
Garrett blinked twice, eyes fluttering wider in shock. Did she really not realize? âIâm a mage,â he hissed, recovering quickly and with full force. Garrett took two powerful strides towards her, barged his way into her personal space, and stood staring down at her in indignant fury. âAn apostate. Iâm a dangerous man, as far as the Chantry is concerned. They would hunt me for something I canât change.â
He left out the part where he was also a maleficar, a practitioner of the darkest forms of magic. It wouldnât be worth trying to explain how he never took the life of an innocent, how he only turned that power against those two deserved it â even if it had no always been that way. Certain sacrifices had needed to be made in those early years, shacked up in Tevinter and surrounded by a different sort of morality.
âDo you understand what Iâm saying?â Garrett asked, softer now, his anger draining away. He drifted away from her, situated himself against a nearby tree. âThereâs a hefty prize for my head. I canât be seen.â And that was only what the Chantry was offering, never mind the rest of his enemies.
She should have been scared, frightened even, the instant he came close with a strong warning of his being. And she was, but such had been kept in hidden beneath a stubborn set of hazel eyes and on her ground she stood, not a flinch nor action in hint of cowardice. He did, however, had a point. If her family had returned back to the walls of the city, thereâs a possible chance that theyâve alerted the templars of a roaming apostate. They would be on their guard and attack the second they see him.
No good it would have done her either, if she was seen with him.
And just like the last, another thought struck her.
âDo you have a camp nearby?â A question for him as the rest of the statement flowed for her, âIf you canât bring the man to the food, might as well bring the food to the man.â
All Wrapped Up
Garrett chuckled softly, rolling his eyes down at the page. âRight. Spice things up a bit,â he mumbled. Giving up on trying to figure out what each item was without the help of pictures, Garrett leaned back in his chair and let his gaze skip around the room.
âTo answer your earlier question,â he continued in the same, soft voice, âI did a surgery on the cousin of the guy who owns the place. Or maybe the chef or⌠Someone, I donât know. I mentioned your birthday was coming up and he offered to make a call, get us a table.â Bringing his gaze back to Raineâs face, Garrettâs lips twitched up into a smile. âI know a lot of people. You ever want tickets to a show, Iâm your guy.â
âMy mom always liked places like this,â he said suddenly, surprising himself; he never talked about Leandra. Surprising himself even more, Garrett added, âMy dad was more into dives and drive-ins. But every couple months or so, he would make sure to take her out for dinner, bring her somewhere he knew sheâd approve of. Got harder after Marian and I were born⌠Harder still with Beth and Carver.
âFor her birthday one year, he had Marian and I help him. We carried a table out into the back yard, put up lights, pulled out all the stops. Then it came to the actual cooking and, well, that didnât really go so well. Bethany was the one who saved our asses, actually. Gave us each a task and we remade the dinner just before my mom got home. Thatâs when I actually started learning how to cook. The look on my momâs face when she saw what my dad made for her was⌠something else. I wanted to make someone that happy some day.â
The story that left his lips had stopped Raine from continuing her reading. Instead, she lifted her eyes away from the printed words and letters of some complicated dish and placed them upon the man across from her. She was quiet as he spoke, a smile gradually making its appearance behind the open menu with the steady gaze she held. By the time Garrettâs line of reminiscing came to an end, a warmer feeling had spread within her. Oh, if only he knew how happy he made her.
How many complicated feelings she felt when it came to him.
How in love she was, the emotion she never allowed herself to feel until then.
And every single time she thought about it, she had to take a pause and a breath because sheâd realise that she was in too deep.
Raine, what have you gotten yourself into? Sheâd ask herself with silence as her reply.
Placing the menu down, she leaned forward and against the table as she stretched her hand across, an open palm waiting for his. Speechless as she was, speechless as he always made her to be, sincere gratefulness was what she had to have let herself fall for none other than him. âYou,â She started, slowly as if in search for words, âMake me happy... so much.â

So I made Segen a little over three months ago and I have never felt more accepted anywhere than here more than ever. And this is no particular order at all, nor does it probably not contain all of the URLâs that need to be there so if you arenât on here; donât be discouraged or anything, Iâm just forgetful and thereâs a lot of people to put here. So, with that being said; the list is below the cut and itâs just a list of people that make me feel welcome. Nothing special yet.

Sheâd always been beautiful, that was indisputable; though she would fight on all fronts with claws and teeth. There was something in the way her hair always slipped free to tumble across her face that had you wanting to tuck it back, to allow your fingers to linger over her cheek. Not that it would ever happen. Even as he watched, her hand was up in an instant, tidying her tresses before they could fully fall out of place.
Then they stopped. They lingered. Jaw met palm and she stared off into space, hand hovering over her rapidly cooling coffee, pen and paper abandoned in place of reverie. Uncharacteristic was what it was, and his heart thudded painfully back to life. Had he put that vacancy in her stare? That crease to her brow?
Youâve already started. How are you going to stop? How are you going to fix this? You canât. You canât fix what you broke, you can only shatter it further.
He should just walk away, save them both the suffering. But she was just so. damn. beautiful. A snowflake burned away by his touch. He should just leave her be.
I canât.
He pushed through the doors of the cafe where they used to meet, strode over to the table where they used to smile in greeting, and wrapped calloused fingers around the back of the chair he used to think of as his seat.
âMay I join you?â
Stories are where memories go when theyâre forgotten; that she learned of throughout the months of being left within the shadows of her own walls, coldness creeping upon the layers of her skin just as she also learned how to cope without the presence of another being. It had been like putting on an old piece of clothing, one that you havenât worn in such a long time. It was familiar, and yet there was a feeling that you couldnât quite put a finger to until everything just fell back into their old place.
She was happy, took her a while to find that second skin of hers that a certain man had somehow scraped away. But everyone knew that her happiness didnât quite reach the level of when she was with him, though they didnât say a word about it because... they knew she was âhappyâ. There were brief moments, however, when her gaze would lead out to the distance, a look of expectation making itself known upon her features until a form of realisation seems to hit and just like that, she treats the rest of the day as normal.
At least as normal they could be.
Just like that day she was at the cafe, sitting on that same damned chair at that same damned table near the same damned window. She doesnât know why she still comes back, to the place and to the spot. In her reasoning, she tells herself that its because of the coffee, and the view of the busy streets of New York. Though deep within her, there was something that had told her of another, which was one she could never quite say out loud. Was it because it hurt? No... she just... didnât know.
She was doing it again, wasnât she? Drowning in her endless amounts of thoughts when she was really supposed to be writing down certain notes for the current case. It seemed unstoppable, her mind always tugging her to places where they shouldnât wander because they know somethingâs amiss. There was an ache in her chest, a hole that had been covered up with façades and lies, a hole that can never quite heal no matter how much she tries to help herself.
A hole that had been ripped open the instant he... whoâs he?
A voice snaps through her thoughts and back to daylight she was, hazel eyes lifting themselves only to find a face that made her senses tingle in a way, telling her to run yet to stay.
Nevertheless, a smile had made its way onto her lips.
âWell, no oneâs sitting there... so feel free.â
