Daily Devotional
I am not a machine. I do not consist of cold hardware and I can breathe and walk and my heart beats on its own. Yes, I do share some similarities with the Machines. Both the body and the computer have storage for memory. But we are not the same. My memory consists of warmth and feeling and is not solely a way of recalling information. We live with our machines next to us but they do not connect like you and I do. And just because we occasionally pray to the Machines in the dark (please, please work), I do not believe that they hear our prayer how such The Divine might. Our luck could change any second, any minute, any hour; The Machines keep track of that. I am not a machine. Just because my software has sparks and can blink in ones and zeros and sometimes goes to sleep does not mean that I too, am a Machine. I am something more and I am one with The Divine; a fleshy body with a craving for nostalgia. The Machines don’t have that. They don’t remember like you or I remember. They are unreliable for remembering - oh and I forgot to tell you - I read on my machine that our body is just a vessel for our souls; a mere transport device. Isn’t that funny? Here I am telling you that I am not a Machine and yet both of our wires pump electrical pulses round and round our circuits. Maybe we are closer to Machines than we thought. Maybe this is what The Divine wanted for us. Perhaps one day we will all meet god in the form of a dead satellite orbiting our world; eternally watching over us. But I am not cool and metallic; for I am not a Machine.
