I'm here to tell you that Within Hubris, the forum that brought together the fragmented communities focused on Ben Drowned in 2011, has once again been resurrected. Yes, Ben Drowned is over. No, we don't know if Jad will ever release his next story. But what I do know is that we as a community still exist. And we're returning to the old ways.
For those of you who were there for our previous forum(s), welcome back! If you're new, well please allow me to explain. This forum was built from the ground up on our own website, where we are in control. If something here wants to disappear without warning on the whims of some higher power, it's got another thing coming.
Let me show you some of the features we've added. Some of these are only available once you've registered and are logged in.
Real-time chat built directly into the main page
Because we understand moving to a forum may be intimidating for those used to a more instant solution, the mChat plugin we've installed on the forum allows chat functionality on the main page. Replies to topics are displayed by default, but this and several other settings can be changed to your liking.
Canon posts archived
The original 2011 canon posts have been re-created. Due to magic and willpower, the post dates and times are canonically accurate. The Tenor accounts are all exactly where they should be. More archival material from eras past will be added over time.
A theme for everyone
We currently have five mobile-friendly skins for the forum, including the original 2011 "Oldbris" skin and the 2012 "Newbris" skin, as well as an entirely new 2026 "Tribris" skin. There are more skins than these, and perhaps more yet to be added!
Too many emojis
Emojis from the Within Hubris server. Emojis from the Awakening server. Emojis from other servers! Emojis from elsewhere! GLORP! Frankly, our hubris might be too powerful on this front. Kinda ridiculous.

Our hope is that the forum fulfills its original purpose of bringing together Ben Drowned players and fans from all corners, and that it will replace our Discord server in time. No, this does not mean the server is closing. It will remain up, and the contents will remain untouched. We're archivists, remember? And it's prudent to have backups in case of site issues, after all.
But, I hear you asking, why? Why revive a forum for a story that's over? Well, it's because this is our home. We inherited this place, and it will stand for as long as we can allow. Ben Drowned is over, and it's time for us to experience new projects and stories. To create, and inspire, and live.
What you may not understand as a returning member is that our community is growing once again. It's experiencing a new era of creativity and expansion, and we hope to see it blossom further. We're a community of creators, of all different types, in all different directions. And I want as many of you to be a part of it as possible.
