25 years ago, parts of L.A. were embroiled in riots. How much has L.A. really changed since then? California Editor Shelby Grad looks at the issue through polls over the years.

yeah, so we want this again, right?
</sarcasm>
this is why we’re here together, i thought...
oh yeah, i’m just crazy. not smart. f*cking idiot who is disrespected daily and not treated like a human being.
i moved here with the intent to help resolve things, not to escalate conflict. LAPD harassed me pretty much relentlessly for about a year- some breaks, which was nice because i was really sick, but they were there every day.
still have nightmares about what they did to me. without even coming into contact- following me at night from helicopter with a searchlight, following me to the grocery store, making a big scene in front of other people. even my sister saw the ridiculousness from LAFD with their low, low copter fly-by over the hot tub (i can only go there with other folks or the copters seem to be very active around me, again i am crazy, don’t worry). yeah, and the fire department sirens used for addressing water / pipe leaks, etc.
i’m basically being lead to believe that this is all in my head at this point, including whatever is going on with elon and this apartment- the alarms here are terrible and happen several times per week (all year long).
local resources need further funding and seem unable to reach folks in need.
it’s a nightmare.
some people don’t even know that they have to pay those food stamps and gr payments back- found that out when dmh came by. i don’t have either, so you know but was shocked by the info.
all of my applications and requests for resources have not been met or made very difficult- such as the ssdi form. confusing and scary.
yeah, okay.
what’s different now is that people do not necessarily -see- each other’s suffering, just the effects/impacts...
it’s still there.
suffering is not a necessary part of this, thanks.
some of us have been through enough and maybe just haven’t put it all out there.
trust.
this is one of the reasons why i moved to l.a.
if intent matters at all. the irony is deep af, tho.
being ignored while trying to get help for those of us who have been ignored.
okay.
hot tub time machine with mel.
rough days = get wet...
Be it.
Do it.
Still this...

I don't even want to say most of the things I have over the past year...
It's felt like living with a gun against your head pretty much 24/7.
Just know that isn't right, so you (inevitably) push on. The only thing that makes that feeling go away is posting here.
No, I don't hear voices... I pick up on vibes and see different options & stuff.
Plus listen to, see, and feel what you all are saying.
Global vibe has been a bummer for a while. Nothing new. Here to unleash the sparkle witchu.
I seeeeeee and feeeeeeel that out there...

Yes... Um.
The person who has been impacting my life the most seems to be doing so because they've experienced oppression themself...
Some of us are not who you might want to think of us as, meaning it's been safer for us to be ourselves without directly talking about things.
Why past work of mine had to do with certain themes and what it says. Feels like we've all been doing our parts to show each other that life is sooo much more than stereotypes, labels, and fixed thinking.

My OC ~ I have been drawing her for 18 years and have still not gotten tired of this color palette.
I miss flowers and being able to go outside alone without being scared.
