ok so like recently I’ve been thinking about something that happened on the new episodes where peridot and pearl are working at the barn to make a massive drill.
peridot mentioned that pearls are made to order, and that our pearl is a fancy one. It made me wonder how fancy, and how to determine the fancyness. Like, can they customize pearls? since it's a manufacturable item here on earth, I wonder if they can change how pearls form on gemworld
anyway, this got me thinking about a few things Pearl and Peridot have done/said.
peridot called her something to hold your purse (or some likeness to that statement) but pearl is obviously more conscious than just a coat-rack. in fact, she would hate to be compared to a coat rack.
maybe that’s part of what makes her a “nice pearl”... maybe she was made to be very aware, and have bonds with her.... (i have no better word for this) owner?
anyway, I remembered when she turned the house cleaning chart to say all the work was for PEarl, and she said she likes to clean. Now, this can be viewed simply that she likes to clean, or that she doesn't like how the others clean. but what if she's pre-programed to do this sort of thing? to clean and fix?
and then i thought about how she recorded rose asking her if she wanted to go home. Pearl said "Why would I want to go back when you're right here?"
ok, so this is clearly seen as a relationship to humans, and I like to vote that Pearl is very much in love with rose
but on a flip side, again, what if she was conditioned in creation to want to be with Rose and do things for her, and be her number 1?
You see her on the battle field fighting and rose looks surprised to see her. Like... No... pearl stop...
and pearl loves the idea of a knight, maybe because that gave hear a reason/purpose/self-permission to change her directive and fight to protect rose
I don't know if Rose would have bought a pearl, but she did end up with pearl. So i half-feel that Pearl was either sent or given to rose
but like, maybe rose didn't want a pearl, and so she started being like, "NO! No, do what YOU want. Don't ask me to boss you around. here, you're your own person." and so like, pearl became her own person. unlike other gems, Rose didn't compare pearl to a coat rack
and once she could direct herself, maybe pearl was like, "you said to be what I want, and I want to fight for you."
i could see her really respecting rose for giving her the option to be herself and this made her feel like she "was everything", instead of just a nobody
and i could also see it as a point of attraction to get someone like garnet/ ruby-sapphire on her side. like, at first they might be skeptic of following rose, but pearl's influence and how she views rose, not just because she was made for rose but because she loves/is devoted to rose, they might be like... rose isn't so off her rocker... maybe we could use this and escape and be garnet all we want if we fight with rose
so like... i think maybe pearl's dedication might have stemmed from being Made for Rose, but that she then developed into her own person and DECIDED To be for Rose... what do you think?
