"of course." days and days and days of burnt, tired muscle, hand to hand combat,  a language of screaming limbs and the thud of  flesh she mastered as fluid as phonology, as fluid as taking down a man twice your size with bare hands, fluid as a steady hand that  doesn’t shake on the barrel of a gun.

And isn't that the great question? She is sure there are many people who wish to answer it, but America has never been fussed what people think of her. The job is important. Saving worlds is important. It's a solitary life, but that's okay--it just doesn't hurt to have back up occasionally. Only occasionally.
