One of the most popular Design and Web Development blog in the world. Great resource for both beginners and advanced designers looking to expand and improve their knowledge.

Although this site doesn't have as much content as The New York Times (Book Section) web page, the nice thing to take from it's responsive design layout is the menu bar. It's menu bar shrinks down from full size to small size while keeping all the item buttons within it by making them icons, one by one as screen size reduces, so it may have most of the full words with just one navigation icon within the menu bar, or all the tabs will have changed to icons within the menu bar for the smallest screen size (mobile phone).

Since the New York Times has more than one navigation or menu bar on it's Books page, it would be good to use menu icons or drop down menus to and have the columns drop down as the screen gets smaller to fit all the content and keep everything simple, so it can be easier for users on a mobile device or tablet.

The Onion, America's Finest News Source, is an award-winning publication covering world, national, and * local issues. It is updated daily online and distributed weekly in select American cities.

This site is a good example for a responsive website layout idea for redesigning The New York Times (Book section) webpage, because it's layout stays pretty consistent. The only thing that changes is the columns, which move down for smaller screens (tablets), while still keeping the menu bar visible until it gets down to the smallest screen size (iPhone), Then, the menu bar and search bar become icons to keep more space and content visible on the page.

It was a tough journey through this design process, but a very knowledge gaining experience as well in designing for the web! 

I still have much to learn and looking forward to many new experiences!

Hayley Chapple Musician/Artist website mock pages. The pages are in order as if the visitor were to explore each tab, starting from the Home page to the last tab on the navigation bar, which is the Updates icon. The Home page icon is the logo. The icon names on the navigation bar are not visible, until the viewer hovers over it, which will then display the icon name.
