It was deep, unrelenting, it was the kind of stare that made her feel as if she was high up in the clouds from the softness it held. It made her stomach weak. Yetâat the same timeâshe could sense the frustration emitting from the boy all the same. The fierceness circled into his brows, leading to a bent furrow. He slipped his cracked, purple lips into a thin line, exhaling sharply from his nose. He stepped closerâprotectively, almost.
She exhaled from her nose, softly unlike him. Her chest falling down gently, and with a smirk she tilted her head; looking back into his pale blues with both flustered feelings and confusion. He was much too sweet, causing her too many confusing dreadful yet exciting feelings to bubble up in her chest. She barely knew what they could beâif she liked them or wanted them to go away, she didnât know.
âYou canât,â he uttered with that same, deep tone that made her feel all silky inside. His lips stayed open after, as if unsure whether to say more or notâready to.
âAbaddon?â
His name rolled off her tongue so rottenly sweet, he had almost shut down right then and there had he not pulled himself back together.
He grabs the hem of her top, clenching his fists onto it with desperation, surprising her. All his fear spilling into the way his knuckles gripped onto the fabric.
Despite his surface demeanor towards others; despite his immortality, he had formed bonds in this hotel. Unbreakable bonds, as if their souls were forever meant to meet. And heâd be damned if he ever let those connections goâŚparticularly, this one. This girl. It was differentâmade his mind go crazy, his heart give out every now and again, and he was sure it would haunt him forever if he ever lost her again. Hellâs torture would never compare to it.
âAbaddon,â she giggled with a raised brow, then gently put her hands atop his, causing his hold to ease from the comfort of her warmth.
âIâm just going to the supermarket⌠you okay?â
âNo! That is a death maze, the lamps and bright, reflective surfaces are deliberately designed to burn your eyes!â He declared, pulling his hands from under yours to point at the ceiling for emphasis. Then his tone turned a bit forlorn, but calm, and he patted his chest. âiâd know, trust me.â
âAh, rightâŚâ her eyes drooped with a stifled laugh. She shifted her knees, and his hands grasped onto her waist quickly with a firm hold, his lanky fingers wrapping around her curves with protectivenessâthinking she was to walk off. He fell closer to her in result.
She let out a noise of surprise, and her eyes widened. That same breath hit his lower face with how close he stepped.
âLet Katherine go! Stay with me, where itâs safe.â
She rolled her eyes with amusement, exhorting a chuckle as she shook her head. She could very well take care of herselfâshe was immortal after all. She wasnât one to deny, though, that she did flush a littleâokay, maybe not a littleâat his protectiveness. It was endearing, and telling of his feelings towards her.
âOkay, okay, Abaddon. If youâre so worried, then why donât you come with me? As the Prince of the underworld, surely youâd be able to protect me?â
His grasp on the girlâs waist lessened as he began to take it into consideration. He lit up at her remembering his title, and immediately agreed. âOf course, i would.â He huffed, completely letting go of the girl then. His fingers twitched at the loss of warmth. âVery well, then, i will accompany you on your mission.â
He seemed to have forgotten how he âfell victim to the torture of the lampsâ the last time he went.
She sighed in relief before he added a concerning comment, âi will get rid of those torture lights so you may grab whatever you need!â
Oh no. He had already constructed too much damage to the town.
