Ever notice how the antagonists always assume the Inspector is human, but then realise their mistake when the Inspector doesn’t change when zapped with a ray?
‘It may work on humans, but I’m not human.’
‘Would you activate a weapon if you knew it would change you into a salamander?’
‘Well, she turned me into a newt!’
One of the more convoluted plots of the Revived Series had to be ‘The Lions Capture Beverly Hills’,
in which the Inspector, Angie and Aidan find themselves the protagonists of the novel The Lion’s Bite, which was canonically written by Brooke Rhapsody, to give them ideas of what to do when things happen in the episode.
Whilst we know (via Word of God) that Brooke Rhapsody’s travels with the Inspector are complete,
one has to wonder whether the full contents of Brooke’s daybook will ever be published.

BTV would have allowed the Fifth Inspector to recover from reincarnation in a vat of water,
but the Powers That Be wouldn’t allow such a scene to be aired now.
‘Bumps? Bumps? Ah, alas poor Circuit Chap. Bloody lot of good you were.’
How exactly was Blorgon Kess able to break through the lock on the Time Wave?
It’s not like a Blorgon needs to be swept into the last moments of the Final Great Spacetime Battle to go mad.
One would reckon that the BOOTH already had a way of randomly appearing at different points in spacetime because she’s sentient.
And there would be no need for a randomiser to be plugged into her central processor in order change when and where she turns up.
‘Oranges! Good source of Vitamin C, you know.’

‘You want the Panopticon? Fine. Just look at who’s standing between it and you. You want to take a chance that I won’t upset your plans to take it? Just look at me. Just me and my Optic Pocketknife. And a few Associates. And, remember every opportunity I took to foil your plans throughout time and space, then do what you were going to do if the first place, leave!’
— the Inspector in ‘The Panopticon Closes’
Rumour has it that the inhabitants of New Old Earth 5 were actually treated by a ‘well-meaning’ chemist, who introduced a ‘happy’ chemical into the planet’s water sources to make sure nobody was ever sad.
Of course, that ended up killing everyone and leaving the planet uninhabitable for generations.
Anyone who sees the Circuit Chaps’ hive mind as an improvement to humanity
always ends up regretting that belief.
Whereas a few of the Inspector’s earlier incarnations were prone to licking objects to get information,
the 13th Inspector simply ate a handful of leaves to determine when and where they’d landed.
In the Classic Series, the Inspector repeatedly claimed that humans weren’t allowed on Kayaclasch,
even though, time and again, they brought their Associates to Infinity Knight headquarters without explanation.

Surprisingly for a British TV programme, Inspector Spacetime has only taken cues from Shakespeare’s catalogue only once:
the Fourth Inspector serial ‘Moon of Goodness’ was based upon the Bard’s Titus Andronicus.
The scriptwriters seem to have a love for ‘Aliens’,
as they have not only copied the film’s plot, parodied it, and called it out by name more than five times throughout its run.
