Hi there! What is the Eleventh Inspector’s personality? Which characters in Inspector Spacetime sacrificed themselves and how? And how did Mary Sue Brown’s friends and the Inspector react to her death?
Hi!
The Eleventh Inspector was a mostly by-the-book kind of bloke and a bit pedantic at times, but despite their façade of seriousness, they had a certain love of puns and jokes. They were the least sexual of all their incarnations, which is certainly notable, but not completely out of character.
The 11th Inspector was the one incarnation who felt the most, even though they tended to play it off that they were not affected by their mates and their demises.
Constable Reggie's lost was, at the same time, a relief for the Inspector and an immersible loss. Reggie ended up in prison, which allowed the Inspector to escape Kappa Gamma IV, but Reggie's occasional incompetence made his loss better for them in the end.
Aidan and Angie died after full lives, mostly spent deep in the past (early 20th century) in Los Angeles, and the Inspector was so affected by their departure (thanks to the Snarling Lions) that they decided to 'retire' from their travels, at least until Geneva stumbled into their life.
Mary Sue Watson was very close to her Associates, and certainly her step-daughter's sacrifice would have sent her off the rails. Probably the reason why the show runner never filmed the events leading up to Lucy's death saving Mary Sue. She apparently gave up on investigating paranormal and extraterrestrial phenomena in the wake of Lucy's passing. She had a lot of guilt for what she put her Associates through, but also shared a special bond with them that few people find in their mates in our world.
