Crystex  HD OT 20 is a sulfur-containing polymer and insoluble with elastomers. This means it will slow down the burning of bins, stop the transfer of sulfur, and maintain the surface tack. This is essential when it comes to the production of tires and other plied-up rubber products.

At temperatures of vulcanization, Crystex  HD OT 20 will de-polymerize into sulfur that is soluble and behave similarly to "Rubber Maker's" sulfur.

Crystex HD OT 20 is a metastable substance that could change to soluble sulfur when not stored in the right conditions.

The conversion from Crystex HD OT 20 to soluble sulfur can also be caused by alkaline products. The presence of accelerators that are alkaline could be crucial.

Crystex HD OT 20 is a particular grade with better flowability and dispersibility.

Crystex  HD OT 20 is used in compounds with an extremely high sulfur content over the solubility of sulfur inside the elastic.

It is found in compounds that have a high sulfur content beyond the level of solubility of sulfur within the elastomer. This conversion to soluble sulfur can also be produced by alkaline products. Crystex(tm) HS OT 20 is utilized in tires and other plied-up rubber products.

Crystex OT-20 is metastable due to its insoluble sulfur. Mixing should be done at low temperatures. Between 100degC and 130degC, significant reversion can occur to soluble sulfuride. Reversion can occur when dry pre-mixes made of CrystexTM, HD OT 20, or another vulcanization chemicals come in contact with CrystexTM HD OT20.

Without insoluble sulfur, the rubber component won’t have the strength and agility, longevity and improved insulation properties. Insoluble sulfur is the most common raw material in a tire manufacturing industry, as avoiding rubber blooming is very crucial when creating radial tires.
