Don quietly suckled from the blood pack she’d been given by the company, only due to her cursed condition.

After the check-up, she’d been assigned just enough to keep her thirst at bay. Just enough to make sure she doesn't turn into a feral beast and kill everyone if she ever dismounted from her dearest rocinante. But… the problem is- she can tell it's artificial.

It lacks that distinctive metallic taste fresh blood has, despite being chock full of iron’s and essential metals which she would receive from an actual donor.

In short- it's bland. Very bland and it ruins her appetite. Not just for food but blood itself.

It just doesn't hit the same as genuine, warm, fresh blood.

Carefully, she set the half-drained pack down next to her, slumping in her seat with an irritated sigh.

God she looks so silly with that dramatic pout on her face.

Don cracks open one eye which then snaps open at the sigh of you approaching, plopping the pack right into her lap so you could steal the empty seat next to her.

,, Not hungry? ’’

You question, naturally. Quixote lets out another dramatic sigh before responding.

,, Nay… these bloodpacks simply ruin thy appetite! Oh, pray tell, where must thou seek to find a substitute to quench her thirst that isn't so horrible to consume… ’’

After you let the bloodfiend speak of her woe’s, you lean back into the uncomfortable bus seat and glance down at her,

,, I’d be willing to let you drink from me. ’’

Don Quixote sputters at your bluntness- especially about that. She does immediately perk up though, Her huge amber eyes burn through you as she speaks.

,, One cannot be so certain! Prithee you have not just now come to said conclusion!? It will not be pleasant for thou t- ’’

,, Its okay, Quixote. I’d let you drink from me, ’’

You do get a subtle glare from the sinner next to you- due to the fact that you did, intentionally, interrupt her

She leans in, her brows raising- half expecting you to suddenly back down now that she’s trying to take up your offer.

With a soft eye roll, you unbutton your shirt slightly, just enough to fully release your neck from its fabric confines. Don felt her chest thumb slightly at the thought of real blood on her tongue- okay now she’s being a little too overzealous.

Adjusting herself slightly, Don leaned forward and into you- dear lord she had not drunk from an actual person in ages. And yet, before she does fully commit, she couldn't help but ask again-

,, Prithee, are you absolutely sure? Tis will cause a plethora of pain and aches… ’’

,, Don, it's fine! Really! ’’

You chuckle slightly, your laughter slightly infecting Quixote herself as she finally committed to the bite,

Despite the 2nd kindred hyping it up to be a very painful and harmful experience, all you felt for about a second was 2 points of pressure, a sharp pain and then nothing. Maybe some mild pressure throughout where she was quite literally drawing blood out if you but if anything the only thing you thought this would make you is sleepy.

It was strangely enough quite calming. Not only for you but for Quixote too. Quixote was in heaven. You could feel her smiling against her neck and her happy little hum to taste something she’s been used to for over 200 years.

Eventually however, you did have to give Don a little shove to tell her to withdraw her sharp fangs from your neck and she happily obliged, licking off what little bit of blood was on the corner of her lips. Unlike some bloodfiends you met previously she’s a weirdly clean drinker.

But maybe those were different circumstances…

,, Did that wet your palette? ’’

,, Oh, indeed! If anything I should be able to save this pack of blood for later in fact! ’’

Hurridley, Don rushed to the backdoor, most likely to put the pack away somewhere more sanitary than her lap. And soon the bloodfiend returned with a small trinket in her palm.

Was that a fixer figurine?

She shimmed back next to you and with a departing sigh, handed you the tiny figuring of some very famous (now far gone) fixer. It genuinely had to be ancient. If you remember correctly this fixer died before the smoke war? Only 10 years ago sure but it feels like a long time ago.

,, For your generosity! I offer you one of my collections most valiant fixers… ’’

The figure is in pristine condition. Knowing Quixote she would’ve kept it in the box if it came with it so it's a miracle no paint was chipped off before it made its way into the blonde’s care. But ignoring the figure, it's a once in a lifetime opportunity to be receiving a gift from one of her prized collections. You didn't even know it was possible for her to give up any of her figures to anyone!

,, Don- you don't have to give me this.. ’K

,, But! But you have proven yourself to be a selfless and cunning and intimate friend of mine! Thou must honour you! Please accept my one of a kind South Cinq association figuring! ’’

Before you could speak, she started to rant about it.

,, I found it in a derelict charity shop! It's of the valiant Margil! One of the most successful fixers in the entire Cinq association itself! They were most well known for winning over 250 duels in the span of 3 years! Which is a lot for a Cinq association fixer! ’’

For the next 15 or so minutes, Don continued to happily rant. She seemed very upbeat- more so than usual. Which was never a bad sign with Quixote.

The thunder from outside the manor struck every little critter that entered the premises. A never ending storm above you. You and the two other children your parents had encouraged you to go play with while you visited.

Your parents were mainly here to converse with the earnshaw’s - you recognised the little girl as Mr. Earnshaw’s (as you’ve been told to call him) daughter Catherine. So who was this boy? He did not appear to be related-

-but it turns out your curiosity was evident on your face, as the young lad scowled at you.

,, What’re you looking at… ’’

He grumbled, more to himself if anything. Catherine turned around and tugged heathcliffs sleeve, pulling him towards you.

,, [Name]! This! Is Heathcliff. ’’

The boy (who you've now learnt is named Heathcliff) tried to pull away, his hand disappearing into his sleeve as he tried to resist Cathy’s efforts. Even so, it was clear he wasn't fully resisting her.

Eventually, he was right in front of you.

,, Im [Name]...! ’’

,, I know. I heard it when Cathy said it.. ’’

He grumbled, shifting slightly behind Catherine. Cathy is an interesting nickname. Your parents would’ve scolded you for using such a colloquial nickname.

Catherine noticed the uneasy tension between you and Heathcliff. She wasn't surprised. Heathcliff wasn't very welcoming towards anyone he thinks may be a ‘threat’.

Despite the initial, unwarranted resentment, it didn't take very long for the 3 of you to sit around a huge pile of paper with a bunch of crayons, markers, etc strawn around a huge mahogany table. These materials were lovingly supplied by Nelly, one of the Earnshaw butlers.

You and Catherine were actually drawing something that could be made out. Cathy was drawing the huge fields that surrounded her home, it was actually a pretty drawing mind you.

You however were drawing your family pet multiple times on several sheets of paper. Suddenly you needed the black crayon to do the eyes of your beloved beast. Looking around the table you spotted it in Heathcliff's hand.

He was smushing it around the same piece of paper he had an hour ago, the paper just a bunch of scribbles of colours - at least it wasn't just black and red?

,, Heathcliff could I have that one please? ’’

,, No. Im using it ’’

Heathcliff mumbled, his eyebrows furrowing as Catherine let out a disappointed sigh. Reluctantly he handed it over.

,, Thank you, Heathcliff! ’’

A soft ‘whatever’ was whispered from him as he leaned back and sunk into his chair.

,, Are you okay? ’’

You and Catherine said at almost the exact same time, a chuckle erupting from the two of you at the comical timing.

The young boy angrily replied

,, Yes! ’’

,, Im fine! ’’

You and Cathy let Heathcliff sulk while you continued to draw. You were an only child- did siblings act like this?

Eventually Catherine spoke up.

,, Father set up a swing set outside yesterday. I wanna go outside, do you guys wanna go outside? ’’

Heathcliff almost instantly perked up, a ray of excitement shining through before he slumped again.

,, Yeah.. ’’

And, just like that, the two Earnshaw’s dragged you outside into the chilly fields. And right there was a swingset made for two. And yet there were 3.

Acting polite just as your parents had told you two, you offered for Cathy and Heathcliff to go first

And non-surprisingly, Heathcliff took it happily, but Catherine was eager to offer it to you instead. After maybe a second or so of back and forth, the dark-haired boy complained.

,, Cant you two just decide who goes first? ’’

,, But it's important to be nice, Heath! Right [Name]? ’’

,, Not really… ’’

Heathcliff grumbled before you to confirm or deny Earnshaw's only daughter’s question.

Eventually, Catherine decided to take it for herself. You stood off to the side watching until it was your turn. And as children do, you all took turns getting on and off then back on and off once more till’ it was time to return to the warmth of the manor.

,, That was fun! ’’

You happily called out, a huge smile plastered on your face as you looked at the two who kept you company for the evening

,, Mhm! ’’

Cathy happily hummed in response as Nelly led you three through the long corridors.

Soon, you all approached a living room of sorts, where there was your parents, Mr. Earnshaw and a very smug looking Hindley. Mr. Earnshaw must’ve been praising him for something.

It became apparent that it was time for you to leave and return home one you noticed your mother was carrying her purse and were slightly angled towards the door as they gave their goodbyes.

,, Ah! [Name]! There you are! ’’

Your mother happily called out, gently taking your hand to lead you away from the small group.

,, Say buh-bye now, dear! ’’

,, Bye-bye! ’’

You waved at Heathcliff and Catherine, receiving a polite wave from the lady and a reluctant, half-assed one from the lad.

As your family walked you away from the estate and to your car, you couldn't help but glance over your shoulder a couple times at the large manor.

Paperwork. Paperwork, paperwork, paperwork.

Hohenheim’s favourite thing.

Since an incident had occurred just last night when an immature new hire thought they could take fragment of the universe in a fight (and were now pretty injured) so it was up to him as the chief researcher to handle these mishaps.

Fragment of the universe is a TETH level abnormality (unfortunately they have not been able to adjust its level to the new system they’ve implemented) it's not powerful at all… but that's new hires for you.

The pen flowed smoothly across documents, sighing things, writing statements about what happened and what is going to happen moving forward, how to prevent a new hire from attempting something like this- you get the jist.

It was all needlessly tedious work.

And man was one little incident taking hours to document. So many hours wasted on scrap pieces of paper when he could’ve been studying abnormalities or further refining the extraction methods of E.G.O. suits and weapons. But no, he’s stuck in his office doing this... And no, he will not stop complaining about it.

Hohenheim barely flinched when you knocked on the door, opening it before he could even spew a small ‘come in’

,, Hey ‘Heim! ’’

,, Greetings [Name]... What do you want out of me this time? ’’

Hohenheim sarcastically remarked, putting down his pen and turning his chair to look at you.

,, I wanna steal something really quick. ’’

Your husband raised an eyebrow at you, his suspicion evident on his thin face.

,, And what may that be? ’’

You didn't answer him, instead leaning in and planting a kiss on his lips, your hand coming up to cup his cheek. The blue haired man’s head hit the back of his chair as you did so, grunting softly in surprise. But you could feel the sly smirk crossing his face.

His calloused hand came up and pulled your hand away, urging you to pull away for a moment.

,, You didn't want to steal anything at all ’’

,, Yes I did? ’’

,, What? My heart? You stole that long ago [Name] ’’

You could feel your bashfulness start to shine through, heat rising to your cheeks. Hohenheim was never a man to be awfully romantic, especially in the work place, so this did unfortunately catch you off guard.

But when were you ever one to complain?

He sighed, tugging your hand towards him before speaking.

,, Go grab yourself a chair. ’’

,, Why? There's a perfectly good one right here. ’’

Your remark caught Hohenheim surprised. Yet maybe he should have expected this- you were always more open between the two of you.

,, Embarrassed? ’’

The researcher let out a huff, leaning back in his chair to give you room to sit. Taking your victory like a proud ruler upon their throne, you laid your head against his shoulder- mindful of the large blue nails poking out of it. His hand slinked around your mid section, holding you in place before he started to write again.

Tilting your head, you planted another kiss on him- this time on his stubbly jaw. He subtly leaned in, pressing his face against your lips before you pulled away.

,, So, what happened this time? ’’

Hohenheim let out an irritated sigh- not at you, but at having to relay such an idiotic incident.

,, New hire. Tried to do something stupid with an abnormality and it didn’t go very well. And here I am, left to write it all up ’’

You nodded against his shoulder, your eyes now on the papers- this was a bit much for one incident… but the LCE has always been hell-bent on security, even the smallest bit of security compromised meant everyone had to evacuate. It makes you subconsciously wonder when the next breach will be.

It wasn’t unjust however, more and more dangerous abnormalities have been found and transferred to your facility at the headquarters, so more and more security measures have been introduced since.

You both existed in silence for a moment, Hohenheim writing and you simply observing. The sound of his pen scratching the thick paper was oddly satisfying. But carefully, you shifted to a more comfortable position.

And you heard a familiar grumble from your lover.

,, Stay still. ’’

His words caused you to chuckle softly, looking up at him you responded.

,, Sorry, ‘getting frustrated? ’’

,, No, you’re just messing up my writing. You forget that handwriting needs to be neat on these. ’’

Hohenheim gently poked your side with an almost silent chuckle.

It didn't take very long for him to finish up whatever was left of the incident report, allowing him to kick the chair away from the desk and allow himself to lean back.You of course followed suit.

,, It's not even lunch and I'm exhausted. ’’

,, Right? I didn't realise we had a time-warping abnormality here. ’’

Your husband hummed in agreement, his eyes shutting briefly and his grip on you relaxing. Eventually his breath evened out and-

He suddenly flinched awake. Leaning forward in his chair, scrambling for his pen again.

,, You okay? ’’

Hohenheim was quick to respond- only after he found a couple sheets of paper.

,, Theres an abnormality behaviour report I have to fill out on false apple. ’’

The contrast between his slight panic just now and his surprisingly monotone voice was comedic. Astonishing almost. Enough to snap you out of your drowsy state.

,, You can always go back to sleep if you wish. As long as you don't have any other business to attend to. ’’

,, Don't have to tell me twice. ’’

You happily lean back into Hohenheim, your body going still.

Context: I did have to double check this and was correct luckily. Don Quixote post LCB regular check up is being supplied with artificial blood packs to keep her well fed in terms of blood so technically she can take off Rocinante??? I think she still feels the thirst of her lower kindreds but I like to imagine it’s more manageable if she’s well fed (again in terms of blood)

Don Quixote was absolutely filthy.

Everyone was, in fact. Blood that would forever stain these white shirts and just all sorts of unnatural flesh and guts splattered evenly upon all of you- even dante themselves weren't safe from this absolute butchery.

And as soon as Dante uttered the command that everyone was relieved from duty for 12 hours no one wasted a moment to go get cleaned up. Which included you and Don Quixote.

The both of you entered your room- lord knows how to traverse Quixotes with all of her displays and merchandise. You went in there once and got lost 2 steps in and couldn't find your way out… -and beelined to your bathroom. Yet suddenly, Don Quixote stopped.

You turned around at the distinct lack of thudding feet beside you and saw Quixote with a face full of blush and her entire tiny body shuddering.

,, HALT! Pray thee… surely we art not going to- ’’

Her voice quickly dropped to a whisper as you raised an eyebrow at her, fully turning around to look at her semi-panicked expression.

,, Bathe together… ’’

Her dramatic reveal of what she was freaking out over was such a comedic one you couldn't help but burst out giggling. Sinner no. 3 didn't take this too lightly.

,, M-MY LOVE! YOU LAUGH AT ME SO WILLINGLY AS IF MY WORRY IS FOR NAUGHT! A-A-A-AS IF T’IS NOT BUT A TINY DISPLAY OF AFFECTION!!!’’

,, Because it is Don… ’’

You replied, grabbing her by the shoulders and giving her a small shake back and forth, as if to snap her out of it. She did stand there for a moment, her mind processing how she’s just been man-handled before sighing.

,, O’ course… T’is but a display! A WONDERFUL one!!! Hurry mi solcito! ’’

With newly found vigor, Don Quixote practically dragged you what little distance was left between you and your bathroom. And before you could even process how she did that the bath was already half way full.

By the time you did process, it was already more bubbles than bath and Quixote had adorned her bashful expression once more.

,, May you avert your eyes for a moment my love? I am unsure about shedding my attire with your- your hypnotising gaze upon me! ’’

With a soft laugh to glance away from the bloodfiend, hearing her make a dramatic relieved sigh. You too started to strip down. Vest, buttoned shirt, undershirt, shoes, belt, socks, trousers- then you were ready to step in-

Where was Quixote?

She seemingly disappeared-! Where did she-!?

,, Hark! Will thou join me or will you continue to act as though I've vanished?!! ’’

She called out from inside the bath, her entire body pretty much submerged and hidden beneath the obnoxious amount of bubbles. It was a shock you didn't see that mop of bright golden hair and piercing red eyes…

,, Right… ’’

You murmur, stepping into the warm bath and letting yourself soak for a moment before looking at Quixote- whom was looking at you.

Her huge, crimson eyes glistened in the bright light as she looked up at you. Her focus shifted between you and the shampoo you kept in a little basket - there wasn't any space to store anything in these tiny rooms so you had to make do.

Reaching for it, you grabbed the shampoo and shimmied closer to Quixote, lathering it in your hands for a moment to get it to foam before dumping it on her head.

Don let out a quiet whine as you scrubbed it into her scalp, her eyes shutting as she relaxed into you.

,, Prithee… how doth thou make your hands feel so heavenly against my skin? ’’

,, i dunno, practice i would assume ’’

You giggle, taking a bit of the foam and rubbing it on her nose, causing her to recoil for a moment and wind up worlds largest sneeze. It caused the bubbles from the water to fly upwards, soon she groaned and rubbed an ear - she must’ve popped it by accident.

,, You dastardly beast! ’’

She raised her voice at you, pushing your shoulder with one hand. And yet, despite the slight irritation, she couldn't help but let it just melt away in your presence as you scooped water in your hands and let it run through Quixote’s hair, washing the shampoo out.

Oh, acts of service truly were her weakness.

After 2 rounds of shampoo you’d managed to wash any muck out of her hair away, letting its shiny golden colour shine fully without that weird oily film stuck to it from your last mission.

Then obviously you conditioner her hair, assist her with washing her body with a rag - not that she couldn't do it herself, just for that extra bit of love. And in true Quixote fashion, she returned the favour by washing your hair and body.

You are… unsure if you can still feel your scalp from how long she was scrubbing at your hair. You could’ve sworn you didn't get that much gunk in it…

But it only got worse when you both stepped out of your bath-

,, OH PRAY THEE!!! ’’

Don yelped, as she left the water, startling you greatly.

,, ITS SO- S-SO COLD!! ’’

She complained, immediately wrapping herself in a town and sitting on the wet floor, her head leaning against the wall. Her dramatic acts were very deeply amusing- even if it was justified… It was very cold.

,, C’mere you. ’’

You picked her up and helped dry her off, laughing to yourself as you watched her hurriedly put her comfortable pajamas on and of course - Rocinante. Any of her outfits would be incomplete without her noble steed!

The two of you left the bathroom and pretty much immediately crawled into bed happily, trying to rest up till your break time ended and it was back to work for you both.

Quixote had herself sprawled out on top of you, all limbs as far apart as they could be.

She was an interesting partner… but one you loved the most

Another distortion tracked down and taken care of (per the company’s orders). Another load of wounds for Dante to rewind and heal.

But Dante was absolutely exhausted themself and Outis being Mrs. Bootlicker told them to rest before even bothering to heal them.

This left everyone including herself in pain for roughly 30 minutes and counting. Wonderful time to be a sinner, huh?

It's not that Dante wasn't well deserving of a break for a moment, they got caught in the cross fire more than once and even had to be helped onto the bus cuz one of their legs had completely given out halfway back to Mephi.

At the very back of the bus, basking in the sun shining through the window sat Ishmael. Her breath came slowly as she tried to breath through the pain she knew would end in a small period- nothing she wasn't used to.

She had a pretty interesting cut over her collarbone that was left still bleeding, every so often her hand would come up to touch it. For no reason. Just to prove she was still feeling it maybe. But soon enough, there was a weight on the double-seat to her left, the stench of dried blood following them just like it lingered on her.

,, Hey, lass? How ‘you holdin up? ’’

,, Barely ’’

The ginger replied, looking over at Heathcliff. He looked just as beat up as she did- split lip all the way down his chin, bit of his right ear was ripped off and plenty of cuts, abrasions and grazes all over his bare arms where his sleeves didn't cover.

,, What about you? ’’

Ishmael asked, looking him up and down for a second.

,, Better than you thats for sure- ’’

The shorter female grumbled, cutting him off before he could gloat or something. A smirk found her face as she chuckled out a reply.

,, Yeah right. You look like you picked a fight with Vergilius ’’

,, After what happened this mission, i think i might ’’

They both let out a sharp laugh, unanimously grunting in pain from that very act. Yet even that made them laugh at each other and receive a cloned result.

,, Honestly mate, I might sneak out back and go take a showa’. Im so fuckin sticky its unreal ’’

,, Go then. No ones stopping you ’’

The former whaler retorted, pushing Heathcliff's arm as if to encourage him. He rolled his eyes and shifted further downward into the seat.

,, Cant be arsed to deal with a bollockin’ from misses ova’ there ’’

Heathcliff nodded towards Outis, who seemed to be in a snappy mood from her own aches and pains.

,, I mean, not if she doesn't notice. ’’

,, You tryna get me in trouble or what!? ’’

The violet eyed sinner asked bluntly, he was met with another laugh- god weren't these two giggly?

,, Maybe… ’’

,, Man i aint got nothin’ to loose ’’

Heathcliff stood, not wasting a second and entering the backdoor- Ishmael hurriedly following after him. She hadn't expected him to actually take her seriously or anything!

But they were both in Heathcliff's room as quickly as possible, yet neither of them actually sent to clean themselves up. Instead, Sinner no. 7 was studying the gingers cut on her collarbone.

,, You got that when that window shattered ay? ’’

,, Yup. Hurt like a bitch. ’’

They both paused for a second, looking and waiting for each other to do something.

And Heathcliff did something alright.

He leaned in suddenly, his bloodied mouth connecting with the wound, his tongue falling out to give it a playful lick.

Ishmael grabbed the back of his head, her fist balling in his hair and pulling him back.

,, You fucking freak! ’’

Yet, rather than disgust, it was more so amazement which had blossomed within her. Did- did heathcliff really just- just casually lap up her blood like a starved wolf!?

She was met with a loud chuckle from the tanned man which held her shoulders in place.

,, Didn't think you’d stay still enough to let me do that, lass! ’’

The ginger rolled her eyes, her smaller hands grasping the dark brunette's face and pulling him forward. Out of shock, he lost his balance and fell atop her, allowing her to grab his swollen bottom lip in her teeth, right over where the cut was and suck whatever free-flowing blood hadn't clotted like a bloodfiend.

Heath reacted similarly to how Ishy did, pulling away and staring at her with wide eyes. Ishmael couldn't help but feel terribly smug, and it definitely showed on her face.

,, Oh you little shite bag! ’’

,, Sorry i didn't think you’d stay still enough to let me to that ’’

She retorted sassily, raising a singular eyebrow.

For an awfully long moment, they simply stared at each other with a unique amount of malice exclusive to the two. And in sync, they both leaned in- Heathcliff for her collar bone and Ishmael for his torn ear.

The two just let the other almost feed off them, the pain so electrifying, so refreshing it felt like ice on a hot summer's day. Pain itself wasn't a new experience by any means, but feeling pain like this… not from a weapon or the maws of an unholy critter but from another sinner's mouth was so terrifyingly new.

They were about to pull away for air when-

,, Don't think i didnt see you two sneaking off! Dante has decided they were finished with recover and-! ’’

,, Ah fuck. ’’
