Rebooting . . .

Chibi hesitated for a moment after seen the droid crouch down, his arms open for her to run to.  Tears became obvious in her eyes…she’s imagined this happening all the time.  So many times…but every time she ran..he faded. He was never really there…though she should have always glanced down at her necklace..but she always tried to pass it off as it not working any more…

She nervously came from behind the wall, almost in the same place where she started at, truly afraid to run towards him…afraid that he wasn’t real and that she was alone once again…

But the blue glow below her caught her attention. Her eyes darted down to the necklace quickly.  Her fingers softly wrapped around it, in complete disbelief that it was glowing..but there it was, a warm blue glow emitting from the glass.  A hard lump came to the child’s throat as tears easily fell down her cheeks.

Within seconds, she ran up to him, wrapping her small arms around his neck and sobbing into his shoulder.

     As he wrapped his arms around her in return, he nodded gently, one hand resting against her back, the other to stroke a palm against the back of her head. Soothing a child was one skill he thought himself rather good at, if he didn't say so himself. At least he was actually trying. Anything to get her to stop crying.
