When the assassin is captured by the person they were supposed to assassinate.
The assassin groaned and lifted his head slowly. He felt disoriented only for a moment until the memories came flooding back to him. He was alert now, and the first thing he noticed was the shackles which secured his hands above his head.
He struggled against them for a moment but they would not give. Had they not been so tight he could have easily got them off. His eyes flicked across the dark room. He scanned his surroundings, coming to the conclusion this had to be some holding cell.
From what memories he could gather, and the throbbing feeling his head, he assumed heâd been caught and knocked out. But how? I never get caught! He thought to himself.Â
His thoughts were cut short by the faint sound of voices and footsteps approaching. He couldnât make out what they were saying just yet, but once they rounded the corner their voices rang clear. âYou really want to talk to him? Why donât we just hang him and be done with the matter.â
The assassin felt his breath catch in his throat at the âjust hang himâ part. A huge beefy guard, a short stubby man, and a tall lean man approached the cell. The three of them together looked a bit ridiculous, like some misfit circus show.
âCome on Cas, this guy was sent to assassinate you for the love of god!â The stubby man crossed his arms to emphasize his anger. The tall man didnât respond, he just turned to the beefy guard and motioned towards the cell door.
The sound of keys rattling echoed through the cell, then the creak of the metal door as it opened. The tall man stepped inside, and for the first time he spoke. âLock the door behind me and leave. I want to speak with him alone.â
The stubby man protested but was ushered along by the beefy man. Now it was just the two of them. There was a drawn out silence and the tension in the room was clearly high.
The assassin was the first to break the silence, âSo, your Cas? Been eager to meet you, my dagger too, it's been very eager to meet your throat.â The assassin gave sly smirk looking up to meet the manâs eyes.Â
There was a silence again, until the man shifted and walked closer. The assassin kept up his confident facade, the same smirk plastered across his face, he would not falter.Â
The man stopped about an arms length away from the assassin and stared down at him. âYou gonna say something, or did you come here just to sight see?â The assassin snarled.Â
The man finally spoke, but only said three words. âWho hired you.â The assassin chuckled and the shackles clanked. âAs an assassin Its not good business to just give your employers name to just anyone, didnât yaâ know.âÂ
The assassin could see he was getting under the man's skin and he thought if he pushed just a bit more the man might just crack. âSo, howâs it feel to be a Deadman walking, huh? Bet im not the first assassin that was hired to kill you, and iâm sure I wonât be the last.âÂ
The man moved suddenly and it took the Assassin by surprise. The man was now on one knee face to face with the assassin, their eyes locked. The assassin could see the twisting anger which brewed in the man's eyes, he thought maybe heâd gone too far. At this point he believed his fate of being hanged was sealed.Â
The man breathed in, then out. âHow about we make a deal, assassin.â The assassin stifled a laugh. âA deal? A deal with the guy iâm supposed to off?â The man didnât seem to find this amusing at all, he looked quite serious.Â
The assassin weighed his options, if he said no heâd likely be hanged, and there was no getting out of this cell on his own. âSay we make a deal, whatâs in it for me?âÂ
The man narrowed his eyes. âYour freedom, and more money than an assassin sees in a lifetime.â The assassin was intrigued, to say the least. âGo on.âÂ
(Donât know if iâll do a part two but my idea from there would be the man, Cas, hires the assassin to assassinate the employer who hired him. The two must cooperate and they got that enemies to friends thing going on bickering like children back and forth. Another assassin would go after Cas and the assassin guy would have to protect him. Yaâ know that kind of stuff. But I'm lazy so oh well.)
