Common Buzzard (Buteo buteo) water colour sketch from my sketchbook
I drew this while volunteering for White Wilderness. Buzzards were definitely the raptor I saw the most often while in Slovakia
(Also I’m reblogging the art posts from my primary tumblr)
Hey everyone, sorry for the long silence. During the last few weeks of my trip my sd card reader stopped working, so I couldn’t upload any photos. Since then, I’ve returned home, but I’ve been very busy and still haven't finished sorting through the thousands of photos I have left. I’m also scanning some of my sketches, which I will also be uploading. Going to try to get on a consistent posting schedule to get the rest of the photos online.

Corvin Castle, Hunedoara, Romania.
Corvin Castle was built by John Hunyadi, the eventual ruler of Hungary while he was Viovode of Trnsylvania. It was later expanded upon by his son, Matthias Corvinus, King of Hungary, from whom the castle takes its name. In the third image, you can see banners bearing the heraldry of the Hunyadi dynasty: a raven carrying a ring in its beak, which is still featured on the coats of arms of Transylvia and Romania.
The fanciful look of the castle largely comes comes from a major 19th century restoration. I think its one of the most spectacular castles I’ve ever been to.

Cluj-Napoca, Romania, is my favorite town I’ve visited so far, though Brasov is a pretty close second. I would seriously consider moving here if I could.
Decorations in the Alexandru Borza Botanical Garden of Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Unfortunately, February is not the best time for a visit, but it was still lovely, and I can imagine it must be gorgeous in the spring.
