She knew it, she knew there was something weird about this toystore. Now that she’s stepped in... She glances back towards the door behind her ― it’s too flimsy, it shouldn’t be able to muffle all the noise from the street the way it does, no way ― it doesn’t just look creepy from the outside, it is creepy in here.

Vivian thumbs her phone, pretending to text, trying to be subtle about filming. She’s excited ― this store wasn’t here last week, and she can’t be entirely sure, but she thinks... she thinks the vegan store and the flower shop on either side of this new one used to be side-by-side. Not have an empty display between them, or anything like that. But now...

She makes her way through the shelves of retro-looking toys to the front desk with a hint of concern ― she’s the only customer here and the clerk is a man older than her. She can run pretty fast and pretty far, though, and there are people out on the street.

the quaint store reminds more of a haunted carnival than anything. each toy having an old-fashioned, handmade quality to them, like they've been sitting there for decades, waiting for someone to buy them, carefully tended to by a shop-owner who refuses to throw them away, just waiting for someone to give them a home.

the bell at the front door rings. a customer entering a store ─ a fly landing onto cobweb. the trap was set ─ now it's been sprung.

before the echoes of the chime stops, he's found his way behind the front desk, giving the young woman a nod in greeting and a " good day! let me know if you need any help, " before letting his focus drop to some papers on the desk, occasionally glancing back up at her as she navigates the shelves. a predator carefully eyeing it's prey, patiently waiting for it to move close enough to pounce.

at last, she finds her way over to him. his eyes moves up to meet hers, as if he hadn't expected her to come over, a bright smile falling upon his lips as he leans onto the desk. " it is indeed! " the toymaker confirms, nodding his head twice. " ze grand opening. we have toys for any interest; ze trains, ze teddies, ze dolls, ze kites, ze cars ─ you name it, it ist hier. " he speaks with an accent that can't quite be placed, though vaguely resembles a poor imitation of german, his fingers splaying out in front of him for emphasis at the word hier, before gently landing onto the desk and folding together. " ist der anything in particular you are looking for? "
