FASHION CREDITS: LADY GAGA & CYNDI LAUPER’S MAC “VIVA GLAM” CAMPAIGN BY ELLEN VON UNWERTH

Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper teamed up with M·A·C Cosmetics for their “Viva Glam” lipstick capsule collection back in 2009.

The campaign was shot by Ellen von Unwerth and styled by Patti Wilson. Makeup by Joanne Gair and hair by Danilo Dixon.

VIVA Glam makeup has raised $250 million for people affected by HIV and AIDS.  The VIVA Glam Campaign began in 1994 to raise funds for the MAC AIDS Fund.

Every penny of the $14.50 lipstick sales, of the VIVA Glam Lipsticks and Lipglasses go to the MAC AIDS Fund. Eighteen years ago, the bullet in passionate red was the first lipstick created directly to create awareness and go to men, women and children affected by the disease. VIVA Glam spokespeople are provocative and influential in their communities. These celebrities help create an amazing ad campaign that gets the buzz out.

The MAC VIVA campaign changes their celebrity spokesperson every 18-24 months. The first face of the campaign was RuPaul, followed by Mary J. Blige,Lil’ Kim, Christina Aguilera, Missy Elliott, Eve, Cyndi Lauper, Lady Gaga and many more celebrities lending their face to MAC.

False eyelashes are one of those beauty products that give you a serious boost when used correctly, but can also look terrible when things go awry. “The key to false lashes anytime, whether you’re backstage or at home wearing them, is to fit them to the eyes. You have to cut the band and make them shorter, otherwise they’ll drag your eyes down,” explains Stila key makeup artist Sarah Lucero, who created the flirty eye makeup look for Alice + Olivia’s Spring 2013 show. Measure: After pulling the lashes off their base, hold them up to your lash line. Bend them a bit so that they match the natural shape of your eye, and then measure where they need to be trimmed.

Cut: The lashes on the band go from short to long (as do the lashes on your eyes), so it’s best to trim both sides to mimic this pattern. Tip: use a pair of cuticle scissors for a precise finish.

Prep: Lucero also suggests using mascara on your natural lashes before you apply the false ones. “It will add that super whimsical look to it,” she says.

Can it be that some are already bored with the influx of blemish balm creams, or B.B. creams, into the American market? Get ready for color control creams, or C.C. creams.

First available in Asia and later made available to Americans by companies like Clinique and Dior, B.B. creams usually contain more skin care ingredients and higher S.P.F. levels.

C.C. creams are even more amped up.

The main difference between color C.C. creams and B.B. creams is that C.C. creams are slightly less transparent, so you get a little more color going on. It’s definitely something that people are going to be curious about if they’ve tried and love B.B. creams.

So far available in two shades, neutral and original, the Rachel K C.C. cream contains crucial ingredients like white tea extract (supposedly protects against environmental aggressors), green leaf tea extract (which is rich in antioxidants) and deep sea water (to add resilience and moisture to the skin). It’s waterproof, includes S.P.F. 35 PA ++ and promises a more brightening effect and lighter texture than B.B. creams.

Another C.C. cream that has gained a lot of buzz in the Asian market is Chanel’s Complete Correction cream. Ms. Chen said that she’s already commissioned a friend in South Korea to purchase one for her and bring back to New York for testing.

Though Chanel has not yet officially announced plans to bring its Complete Correction cream to the United States, but two other brands have plans to bring their products to America next month.

And Olay is introducing its Total Effects CC Tone Correcting line, which will include the CC Tone Correcting UV Moisturizer (available in three shades) for $21.50 each.

LiSi Cosmetics: Gag, Gasp, Twirl Make- up artist event, Hosted by Edward Powell

Friday I attended LiSi’s Cosmetics “Gag, Gasp, Twirl” Makeup Event at their flagship store here in New York. Makeovers, cocktails, appetizers and of course TONS of great makeup was provided. 

I was greeted by the makeup artist working the floor, was seated and asked if I wanted a makeover. Naturally I said yes –that’s where the fun began. I received my makeover from a wonderful makeup artist who explained every product I was wearing clearly and effortlessly! From start to finish –Satin Veil Cream to Powder Foundation was applied… I am a #7. Very true to color, layer-able and blends well.

Then Eyeconic Duo Baked EyeShadow Duo… This isn’t, the color that was used –however this is the product! I was wearing a Royal Purple and Gold color, which I believe was called Gingerbread. It was a baked eyeshadow that was beautiful, metallic and I did'nt notice a bit of fall out! Which is always a good thing.

Blush (my favorite product!) was Flushed Pressed Powder Blush in Maldives, which definitely popped on my cheeks and brought out the full potential of my bone structure.  

And last (just one of the products I bought) Lip Definer Lip Liner in Merengue and Cream Color Lipstick  in SUNDAY BRUNCH!

  A COMPLETE AND UTTER FAV! I bought this lipstick immediately, not to mention there was a 20% discount for all attendees. However, I am still undecided if I want to have this lipstick in my kit being that it was sooo creamy, beautiful and by far my favorite nude I have worn! Which means now I have more reasons to go back to LiSi Cosmetics.

–It takes money to throw an event, so be courteous and purchase!  

Well, when the makeover was over I had a moment to browse and I picked up several goodies (see below). My friend ,makeup artist, Nikisha was with me, I bought her 2 Illuminators (Merry Christmas). She couldn’t seem to part ways with the Illuminators. The prices are low, for great quality! The host of the night, Edward Powell, was very detailed about the products. Explaining what works best and how to make it work. One of his personal tips for me was to “add the Illuminator to your foundation –it will create a beautiful sun-kissed glow…”
