In 1980's i remember there was a series on television, The MacGyver. MacGyver is an American action-adventure television series created by Lee David Zlotoff. He reminds me with Mr. Tilo Gockel. Because in any situations he can solve the problems of lighting for his photography works.

I am happy when i found out that he wrote some books including this beautiful book, Creative Flash Photography. What makes me amazed is in one book (290 pages) we can grab lots of guide set up flash for our photography. The instructions are pretty clear and easy to be practiced. He uses beautiful illustrations, detail of lighting diagrams, the tricks and tips to achieve a high-end studio shots using simple equipments.

There are 40 flash workshops in this book, step by step we can practice the portrait and fashion photography, macro with flash, still life and product shots, food photos, high speed flash including shooting underwater photography. Pretty challenging! Interesting subjects to help us mastering a complex multi flash situations.

Amorphophallus titanum blooms in Taman Hutan Raya Djuanda, Bandung

Amorphophallus titanum is endemic to western Sumatra, where it grows in openings in rainforests on limestone hills. The plant is cultivated by botanic gardens and private collectors around the world.

The titan arum's inflorescence can reach over 3 metres (10 ft) in height. Like the related cuckoo pint and calla lily, it consists of a fragrant spadix of flowers wrapped by a spathe, which looks like a large petal. In the case of the titan arum, the spathe is a deep green on the outside and dark burgundy red on the inside, with a deeply furrowed texture. The spadix is hollow and resembles a large loaf of French bread. Near the bottom of the spadix, hidden from view inside the sheath of the spathe, the spadix bears two rings of small flowers. The upper ring bears the male flowers, the lower ring is spangled with bright red-orange carpels. The "fragrance" of the titan arum resembles rotting meat, attracting carrion-eating beetles and flesh flies (family Sarcophagidae) that pollinate it. The inflorescence's deep red color and texture contribute to the illusion that the spathe is a piece of meat. During bloom, the tip of the spadix is approximately human body temperature, which helps the perfume volatilize; this heat is also believed to assist in the illusion that attracts carcass-eating insects.

Both male and female flowers grow in the same inflorescence. The female flowers open first, then a day or two following, the male flowers open. This usually prevents the flower from self-pollinating.

After the flower dies back, a single leaf, which reaches the size of a small tree, grows from the underground corm. The leaf grows on a somewhat green stalk that branches into three sections at the top, each containing many leaflets. The leaf structure can reach up to 6 metres (20 ft) tall and 5 metres (16 ft) across. Each year, the old leaf dies and a new one grows in its place. When the corm has stored enough energy, it becomes dormant for about four months. Then, the process repeats.

In The Edge of a Cliff.

Tebing Karaton is located at Kampung Ciharegem Puncak, Desa wisata Ciburial, in the Cimenyan district. The cliff was not newly discovered. In fact, geologists have a proper term calling it the "Patahan Lembang" (Lembang fault) while local villagers call it by the Sundanese term of "gawir jontor" (“gawir” means cliff and “jontor” is local dialect slang for swollen lips).

A local named Ase Sobana, wrote a brief history of Tebing Keraton stating that he named it so last May and made the signage that has been attracting visitors ever since.

The Jatiluhur Dam is a multi-purpose embankment dam on the Citarum River in West Java, Indonesia. It is located 70 km (43 mi) east of Jakarta, close to the medium-size town of Purwakarta.

The workshop was been held with the keynote speaker, Guntur Primagotama. He is an industrial and aerial photographer. The definition of Industrial Photography is “The practice of picture taking in the service of manufacturing. The term is used broadly to include factory photography of processes, laboratory photography, studio photography of products, and field photography of activities such as procedures and testing”. So, the duties of a photographer in here are… Photographs various aspects of industries, such as machinery, equipment, and products, for training manuals, company literature, annual reports, publicity, equipment records, and so on; creates portraits of industry executives and staff; travels and works on location at factories and power plants. In the beginning of workshop, all i know that this kinda photography must be a hard one… but when i found out from his experiences… i was more shock! :) Because beside that photography style need basic photography, lighting, etc… To take this kinda pictures need a lots of preparations! Such as : helmet, safety shoes, glasses, full body harness, flash light, head lamp, signal light and first aid kit! And the more shocking thing is… we cant bring lots of assistants to help us in the field :) That’s really need extra heavy duty things! The photographer must have a safety certificate too. And for The Aerial Photography is the same way… The Aerial Photography is a photograph taken from an aircraft . We need to have a special preparations/plan, because renting an aircraft is very very expensive.

Lahang di jagad kuliner, justru bisa dibilang senior dibandingkan minuman-minuman isotonik yang ada pada saat ini

Lahang merupakan minuman khas Indonesia yang terbuat dari nira. Rasa manis dan segar adalah ciri dari minuman ini.

Lahang diperoleh dari sadapan pohon aren. Bagian yang disadap adalah bunga jantannya. Cara menyadapnya pun tidak sembarangan, para petani biasanya akan berangkat lebih awal untuk menyadap aren agar kesegarannya terjaga. Konon pada kondisi tertentu air dari bunga jantan pohon aren ini bila terlambat disadap akan berubah menjadi cuka atau tuak. Pohon dari bunga yang akan disadap akan sangat baik bila sudah berusia 5 tahun.

Menyadap nira dari bunga jantan tidaklah mudah. Beberapa lama sebelum disadap, ijuk yang melekat pada tongkol bunga jantan harus dibersihkan. Juga pelepah yang menghalangi tongkol.

Minuman ini biasanya disajikan sebagai pencuci mulut atau sebagai makanan selingan. Sesuai disajikan di siang hari.

Taman Hutan Raya Ir. H. Djuanda merupakan kawasan konservasi yang terpadu antara alam sekunder dengan hutan tanaman yang terletak di Kota Bandung, Indonesia. Luasnya mencapai 590 hektare membentang dari kawasan Dago Pakar sampai Maribaya.

Letak Taman Hutan Raya Ir. H. Djuanda berada di Kampung Pakar, Desa Ciburial, Kecamatan Cimenyan, pada ketinggian antara 770 mdpl sampai 1330 mdpl. Di atas tanahnya yang subur terdapat sekitar 2500 jenis tanaman yang terdiri dari 40 familia dan 112 species. Pada tahun 1965 luas taman hutan raya baru sekitar 10 ha saja, namun saat ini sudah mencapai 590 ha membentang dari kawasan Pakar sampai Maribaya. Saat ini pengelolaannya dilakukan oleh Dinas Kehutanan Pemda Provinsi Jawa Barat (sebelumnya berada di bawah naungan Perum Perhutani).

Taman ini dapat dikunjungi setiap hari, buka antara jam 08.00-18.00.
