Fili x reader

Fighting is rare between you and Fili.

If you aren’t a dwarf, Fili is going to be very understanding of you getting something wrong about dwarf customs - he’s probably expecting it. After all, dwarrow keep everything close to their belts.

No, a big fight with Fili would probably stem from Fili’s greatest fear: not being able to protect you.

Now this can lead to a fight in two definite ways.

One way, is that you have a tendency to bite off more than you can chew by running headfirst into danger.

Say, if you and the company were surrounded by Orcs and had sensitive information that needed to get somewhere. And you decided, being self proclaimed the best suited for the job, to go off on your own and sneak through the Orc camps to get the information to whoever needed it.

When Fili wakes up to find you gone he is terrified. You’re gone, in danger, and he can’t do anything.

When you finally reunite, his fear will quickly turn to anger because he thought you understood that you two were a team.

Which you quickly respond by pointing out that he’s only upset because his need to always protect you and that you are very capable on your own.

Which makes him even angrier because of course he knows you are strong, powerful, and the most incredible person he’s ever known.

And it will continue to devolve into a nasty argument that leaves both of you upset.

But after he cools off, Fili will seek you out to reconcile. He’ll apologize and explain how he’s feeling and everything will be alright.

Honestly even your biggest fights wouldn’t really be that detrimental of a spat.

Fili x reader, Kili x reader

Note: I made the mistake of applying for a job right before bed so here’s my attempt at winding down. Hope you enjoy the headcanons!

Kili

He’d want to ask if he could court you as soon as he met you.

He wouldn’t, but he’d want to.

Kili is a total romantic. He’s been dreaming of his One since he was a child.

And then he meets you and you’re more than he had ever hoped or dreamed for.

When he’s insecure, Kili tries to imitate Thorin as much as possible so be prepared for an adorably failed attempt at seeming stoic and mysterious when you first meet him.

He’ll make his affection for you known immediately but he won’t be offended if you don’t immediately return his affection - he’s probably expecting you to dislike him at first, anyways.

If you do immediately return his affection, oh boy howdy, he’ll be so surprised. He’d definitely turn red and fumble over words as his entire planned conversation hinged on you having a vague distaste in him.

Either way, if you fall fast or slow, Kili is going to ask if he can court you very soon after you meet.

In fact, he’ll ask as soon as you make it clear you’re interested in him.

As soon as you give him word that you’re into his advances, he’ll wish you off on an impromptu romantic date and tell you that his interest in you is very much a long term interest.

“I want to court you, one day. Be it tomorrow or in twenty years.”

It would very much be a “I’m laying all my cards on the table but also making sure there is no pressure or expectations for you to reciprocate now or ever” kind of deal.

Honestly, when it comes to romance he knows what he feels and he’s very up front about it.

He wants to be with you, and he hopes that maybe one day you’ll want to be with him.

Fili

Fili also knows your his One immediately, and falls quickly and deeply.

But whereas Kili will ask almost immediately, Fili will do the exact opposite.

He’ll ask if he can court you well after you’ve made your feelings for him known. (And getting him to know you care for him romantically will be a struggle in its own right).

Fili is absolutely terrified of you rejecting him.

It doesn’t matter if Kili, Dis, Bilbo, the rest of the company, you, and the rest of the world are telling him you like him.

He’s still going to hesitate.

He’s still going to wonder if you’ll not like the marriage bead he made you, if you’ll change your mind,

And on and on he’ll go.

Dis and Kili will be constantly making jabs to him asking why he isn’t courting you yet.

He’ll get embarrassed because it isn’t like he hasn’t tried - he keeps the marriage bead on him at all times.

It’s just whenever he means to ask you, the prospect of courting you - of marrying you - gives him such intense feelings of happiness and love that he just -

Look, he doesn’t really get it either.

But rest assured, he will ask you.

Sometime when it’s just the two of you, doing some mundane thing.

You’ll casually mention something that makes it clear that you plan to spend the rest of your life with him.

And that will make the decision for him.

You’ll realize Fili had stopped walking with you, and you’ll turn back to see him staring at you intently.

When you ask him what’s the matter, he’ll ask you if he can court you.

Fili x Reader

Summary: Fili and Y/n decide to elope after a fight with the orcs in case something happens to one of them.

Note: This is a request! It’s not exactly what you requested, so I hope you like it. I didn’t really spend time on the wedding, more on leading up to that. Also, sorry if the format is weird. I’m posting via the app. Thanks so much for the request! :) I was originally going to do headcanons but Fili so... oops. :)

You were barely standing, heaving great gasping breaths as you surveyed the carnage around you.

It was the third orc attack in the past two weeks and you were travelling through land that would become even more infested with orcs. Damn that ring that Bilbo found - damn it all!

“Y/n!”

You looked up to see Fili picking his way over to you as quickly as he could. You moved to meet him part way.

“Are you alright?!”

“Yeah, yeah.” You waved away Fili’s worried hands. “Just a few minor scrapes. You okay?”

Fili had a nasty cut on his cheek but other than that he seemed fine. You brought a hand up to the cut.

“Thorin pulled me out of the way just in time.” Fili murmured an answer to your unasked question.

You frowned.

Thorin had said it would get worse before it got better and the Company was barely scraping by unscathed as is. It was a miracle that no one had died yet.

By the time Oin had patched everyone up, you’d made up your mind.

You couldn’t wait until you returned to Erebor to court and marry Fili.

As soon as you could, you pulled Fili away from Kili, ignoring Kili’s exaggerated wink.

“Everything alright?” Fili asked when you two were alone.

You looked Fili in the eyes and took a deep breath.

“Marry me.”

A flurry of emotions crossed Fili’s face, mixing together to create a flustered mess as his cheeks flamed and his eyes softened. You’d been dancing around courting for a few months now and you knew - courtesy of Bilbo - that Fili had planned to ask you officially when you returned to Erebor.

“I love you and I want to marry you, Fili. We might not both make it back to Erebor and I don’t want -“ you stopped talking, not wanting to think about the possibility of Fili not making it.

Fili brought his hands to your face and tilted you head upwards so he could meet your eyes.

“I want nothing more than to be your husband, Y/n.”

You both decided to wait to tell Thorin until the next morning, as the entire Company was exhausted.

That dawn, before anyone else was stirring, you watched from your bedroll as Fili made his way over to where Thorin was keeping watch.

They talked, faces serious until Thorin smiled and embraced his nephew.

You sat up.

“You seem to be in a good mood this morning, Thorin.” Balin said as way of greeting to the King.

Thorin was still smiling as the Company woke, which was uncharacteristic of the normally brooding dwarf.

“Aye,” he replied. “We’ll be resting today.”

“Is there a particular reason?” Bilbo asked, trying not to sound too relieved.

Fili and Thorin shared a look.

“We’ll be having an impromptu wedding,” Thorin said. “For Fili and Y/n.”

The sleepy ambience was shattered as the Company erupted into cheers. Kilo pounced on his older brother and was soon followed by the rest of the Company as they dogpiled Fili.

You shared a grin with Bilbo.

“It’d be a shame if they killed Fili before I could marry him.”

The entire company was in tears as you and Fili clasped hands in front of Thorin.

Bilbo: I know for a fact that Thorin just said my name. What’s he saying? Is he insulting me - I bet he’s insulting me. That damn dwarf. Say it to my face!”

First and foremost, Bilbo would get the entire shire behind his plan to fuck with Thorin. Thorin constantly gets lost not only because he’s bad at directions but also because some shops that are owned by Bilbo’s friends change their signs so there are no consistent landmarks.

Actually on that point, Bilbo probably didn’t convince them to mess with Thorin. I imagine he was rude while trying to find his way and everyone collectively said a polite fuck you by giving him accurate but unnecessarily long directions to Baggins house.

If Bilbo ever becomes friends with Thranduil, Thorin is screwed. Because Thranduil would not pass up a moment to fuck with the dwarf. These two would go all out - at one point they fake an entire wedding and the entire shire is behind it. Legolas starts calling Bilbo his step-dad. Elves of Mirkwood collectively adopt Frodo once Bilbo takes him in. There’s a party in the shire every year for Bilbo and Thranduil’s “anniversary”. Thorin complains to Balin who’s just like “if you were courting or married this wouldn’t have happened.”
