      HIS MOTHER. FUCK, WHY DID SHE HAVE TO MENTION HER? hearing that, lysander felt like he had suffered a WRACKSPURT attack. even more so as the guilt settled into his bones, fighting against the very urge that had BIRTHED that searing ache in his chest. he wondered if he would have told her, fern held so intently on peridot              had they not been interrupted by the FALLING BODY before them, would he have confided in her what he had become? limbs move faster than he could control, as he lunged towards the SCREAM that sounded beside him; reflex demanded he protect her; someone WORTH protecting.

     IN THE SPIRIT OF GOOD FUN AND GAMES, XANDER LAUGHED. he laughed harder than he could remember, a palm pressed to his stomach as he watched the flurry of PINECONES rain down on them. ‘ an ambush like this, i can only imagine LEONA'S in charge of it. ’ he almost WAVED into the bushes, until one lands against ivy’s forehead, and he watches as she STUMBLES onto the ground. ‘ -hold on! ’ he reaches towards her, arms tucking under her stomach as he HOISTS her up onto his shoulder. something beneath his skin BURNED against the friction of her shirt against his. fighting the hiss that slipped past his lips, xander RAN further into the woods.

     WOULD HE HAVE SEEN THEM COMING IF HE’D BEEN SOBER? if he wasn’t too busy searching for the next opportunity to be alone, would he have been able to SENSE the ambush? xander attempted to distract himself with those thoughts as he delved deeper into the GREEN, only placing her down when the sounds of panicked screaming seemed far away in the distance. ‘ looks like it’s up to your winnie the pooh pajamas to save us after all. ’ had they even had any time to plan the position of their flag? he certainly hadn’t paid any attention. maybe once upon a time, lysander would have TRIED. ‘ so what’s the plan, CAPTAIN? ’  please say splitting up, say splitting up.

                   was that REALLY what he wanted? SHAME rang out.                              '        any chance you picked up a WAND on the way? ’

      BRUTAL HANDS TRAILED SOFT LINES AGAINST HIM. lysander’s did the same, running his fingers over the gentle curve of her hips, the indented line down the center of her back. all while he ROCKED himself into her in a rhythm that threatened to send him to a place of insanity. the rise and fall of her chest was the beacon that CONTROLLED him, that kept him grounded in the reality that was her. her skin, wrapped tightly around him, lulled him into a state of elation               lysander didn’t just FEEL her on his lap, or against his flesh. he felt her in his mind, wrapping her darkened soul around his corrupted being. it was his name on HER tongue that beckoned the surge of ELECTRICITY through him.

     WAS HE ASKING, OR DEMANDING? ‘    I’M BEGGING. ’ he was hers. wholly and entirely hers for the wrecking. lysander relents as she captures the control from him, her hips demanding something greater, MORE. trapping her lips hungrily in his, xander glides his fingers from around her slim neck to her slender waist, TUGGING on skin as he follows her movement with his hands. a breathless SIGH escapes into the kiss that fueled him to plunge upwards in a need to be closer to her. carefully, he holds himself against her until he’s about to reel the UNADULTERATED NEED for her back in               until he’s not careful at all anymore. until need becomes greater than their LOST time.

     HIS NEW CRAVING, HIS DESIRE, GOVERNED HIS BODY. it decided that his palm collide against the skin of her behind with a SMACK, before fingers grip flesh tightly in his hands as to soothe the slight tingle it might have left in its wake. the sound reverberated through his very veins, setting aflame every inch of him that BEGGED for her. how could he remain so unsatisfied with so much of her? how was it possible that he craved so much more of her? hips establish a new rhythm as he LIFTS himself higher, using his hands at her ass to guide her along with him. lysander became.  .  . OVERWHELMED with the searing need to DEVOUR her. ‘ god, lysa. ’  words escape in the form of a growl, HEADY.

     ‘ I DON’T EVER WANT TO UNBURY MYSELF FROM YOU. ’ he didn’t ever want to breathe another breath without being inside her, without tasting every inch of skin she allowed. his hand travels higher, back along FAMILIAR territory, until they land around her neck once more. she was DESIGNED to fit in his hands, to be held by him. lysandra gaunt was designed to DESTROY every shred of being that held him together. she was his RUINATION, and his SALVATION. he presses his mouth to her neck, burying his face in the crook of her neck               it muffles the sound of his grunt, as electricity sparks to life between their skin, pressed to each other so DESPERATELY. 

                   what was SANITY? what was INSANITY? .  .  .if not her.                              '       say my NAME, lysa. ’ please. ’ i’m BEGGING you. ’

      LYSANDER FELT MORE AT HOME HERE THAN THE CASTLE. the snapping of the twigs, the cawing of the birds, and the thudding of unfamiliar footsteps triggered a sense of FEAR in him                he relished in it. perhaps it was because he’d only felt PAIN in the last couple of months, or perhaps he was simply destined to BELONG among the demons that lurked behind every dark tree in the forest. all he knew was that the OTHERS in his house didn’t share his doomed fate. IVY, for instance, didn’t belong in places like this. and yet, she seemed to thrive in them, with her HARDENED gaze and cool demeanour as she stared out into the green.

     ‘ AND YOU HAVEN’T SLEPT YET? ’ IVY, THE NIGHT OWL. but lysander had new motivations to be up, had new CRAVINGS that had hummed to life in his bloodstream and called out to him with its loving voice. somewhere along the line, the GUILT had subsided, making way for the sizzling that seared against his skin in the form of small contusions and burns. they’d stopped hurting now, soothed only by the familiar bitterness of DITTANY. still, lysander moved to sit beside her, curling the edge of the blanket around his shoulder as he nudged her arm with his. ‘ yes, your winnie the pooh pyjamas will lead us right to our victory. ’ a chuckle wove itself between his words.

     HUFFLEPUFF DIDN’T STAND A CHANCE IN THIS FIGHT. perhaps once upon a time, he might have cared. not today. not for a long while. ‘ i’m always doing okay. ’ he said it with the same ease he always carried in his voice, his shoulders shrugging easily despite his muscles TENSING from the lack of dittany. ‘ -and i’m always on my A-GAME, too. not that i need to; if you steal flags the same way you hit a bludger, we might have a chance at winning. ’ brutal, but effective. still, his smile faltered, and TIRED fern drifted up to meet her eyes. ‘ it just feels suffocating, you know? ’ HER eyes, watching him; EMERALD beckoning, unrelenting.

                   ‘ -but i think you FEEL it too. ’ a  NEWFOUND dark.                              his lips twitch. ‘ i guess we BOTH have our secrets. ’

      FIRE AND ICE FOUGHT A FIERCE BATTLE BETWEEN THEM. he could almost feel the ice lurking under her flesh when his fingertips gripped hard against the thin, silk sheet of skin of her waist. she was LIGHT, easy to hold in his arms as he lifted her up higher against him, setting her on his lap with ease. limbs entangled, lysander tried not to focus on the brutal grip of her fingers around his shoulders, or the way she wrapped around his hard flesh                 he dallied with the line between righteousness and INSANITY, finding this craving he felt for her fiercer than any ideal. perhaps he wouldn’t have tipped over that line, if her moaned plea hadn’t wisped over his lips: please.

     I NEED YOU. MAYBE NOT AS MUCH AS HE NEEDED HER. but definitely more than he needed air to breathe. his hands take their time to explore the sharp arch of her back, curving along the side of her hips as they swayed in rhythm with his. he could taste the bitterness of corruption on his tongue as she tugged on his bottom lip                it was familiar to him; like home, he found himself thinking. jolts of lightning surged over every inch of his skin, as he lifted his gaze lower to the SHARPNESS of her collar bones, down to the swell of her breasts. ‘  beautiful. ’ the word slipped past his lips in a hushed whisper, before his hand trailed higher.

     HE CURLED HIS FINGERS AROUND HER SLIM NECK. arm wrapped around her waist, lysander ground his hips forwards and backwards, letting his tongue taste the hint of passionfruit on her lips. he sat up higher, pressing his stomach to her chest as he held her harder against him. ‘ lysa     ’ his voice was coarse as he breathed her name, fighting back a fire that burned almost PAINFULLY in his stomach. he wanted to chant her name, bury himself in her until the end of everything               the thought carried him to a place of elation, a kind of high immeasurable to that of dittany. his grip around her neck tightened slightly, as he let his teeth fit around her bottom lip for a single taste.

                    if this was HELL, he might have a TASTE for it.                              and fuck, did he have a taste for HER. ‘ fuck me. ’
