“We women are always alone” completely turns a blind eye to social and economical class in Mexico. The juxtaposition of the lovelorn, wealthy woman saying this to the struggling, working class, and also hurting woman, was one of the most insightful moments in this otherwise banal movie.

Hello. It’s me BUB.

It’s been determined that I have a bone infection in my jaw. My dude first noticed the growth over a year ago, and I’ve had two CT Scans and many vet visits since then. The only way to truly determine the bacteria causing the infection is to do a bone biopsy, which would require full anesthesia. Unfortunately this imposes a very high risk for a kitty of my size (the last time I was put under for my broken elbow, I almost didn’t make it). For this reason, my vet team is suggesting that I try prolonged antibiotic treatments that are most likely to treat the causes of such an infection. So far it’s too soon to tell if it’s helping (bone infections are especially difficult to treat, and require long periods of treatment before results can be determined). The good news is that the infection has not affected me in any way besides my physical appearance. My appetite is as ferocious as ever, my spirit is thriving and my quality life is as magical as ever.  It has been decided that if the current treatments prove ineffective, or the  infection starts to affect my well-being, that we will move forward with a bone biopsy to try to determine with more accuracy what is causing the infection. Please understand that my dude is doing everything in his power to help me. I see my local vet every two weeks - he measures the size of my jaw  to document it’s growth, and tests my blood every couple months to monitor my vitals. 

I know that many of my friends out there will want to offer to help with my medical costs, especially with the recent popularity of GoFundMe campaigns. While my dude and I are grateful for your support and willingness to help, we have to respectfully decline any financial assistance. We strongly believe that every pet owner should set aside money in case of medical emergencies. It is my dude’s sole responsibility to ensure that he can afford any medical care I may need, especially with so many homeless pets on our planet who have no one to care for them, and need the financial assistance more than those of us fortunate enough to have someone to care for us. Thankfully he has been setting aside money since the day he brought me home, over 7 years ago. We strongly encourage every pet owner to the same, or to consider investing in pet insurance. 

All I ask for are your positive thoughts, your love, and encouragement - this is the most effective and valuable thing you can do for me.
