i knew this conceptually, but like you dont really KNOW that public school is designed to set you up to be a good worker bee until you're cracking out a report, after hours, at 7 pm on a monday night and it hits you; oh, i'm doing homework, this is why they made me do homework, and suddenly i'm feeling it in my chest. i cant believe i was raised by the state to be an automaton, and worse, i am one of the lucky robots who isn't doing manual labor.

I took an entire course in college where we studied the ways the public school system in the U.S. is geared towards institutionalizing the country's population from a young age. It's not just about setting you up to be a good worker bee. The little windows on classroom doors? Gets you used to the idea of always being under supervision. But they also prepare a lot of students, especially those relegated to remedial classes, for the way prison life works and what to expect when they get there. Multiple choice tests, standardized tests, end-of-chapter tests that just ask you to regurgitate everything that was italicized in the text? They train you to repeat the ideas given to you and mechanize your thinking, and prevent you developing critical thinking skills. I could write more about this when I get my old college texts from this class (they're in storage and I can't access them during covid), but basically the U.S. public school system is geared towards churning out both middle class worker drones AND working class prison inmates. There is a direct relationship between the public school system and the prison industrial complex.

Also there’s literally so many restrictions on unions and strikes at this point that striking on any significant scale is nearly de facto illegal

on one hand i don’t believe in really restricting media from my children. i understand the importance of varied intake with media. that being said i will not allow my children to watch paw patrol. it’s police propaganda.

not to beat a dead pig but i just want my followers to know that while yes, this is funny in the sense that we live in a farcical dystopia, paw patrol is one of the most pro-cop, pro-surveillance state shows i’ve seen since like, 24

also now they have a tracking puppy named tracker and he’s a chihuaha and lives in the jungle and he uses gratuitious spanish
