Scarlett has been such a sweet addition to our family ever since we brought her home from the Humane Society back in April 2019 when she was just a 3-month-old kitten (she is now 10 months). She loves to play and actually acts more like a dog than a cat. Her favorite thing to do is fetch strings and bring them back to you.
Scarlett is the most lovable cat we've ever met. She wants to be wherever you are and will follow you from room to room. She loves being with her family at all times. She will always greet you at the door, lay happily at your feet, or bring you her favorite toy.
We knew something was wrong when Scarlett suddenly stopped acting like her upbeat, rambunctious self. She stopped eating, drinking and using her litter box. She would remain in one spot all day refusing to move. Her body temperature seemed high as well. We brought her to see her primary veterinarian, and after an X-ray and some diagnostic tests, it was discovered that Scarlett had an intestinal blockage, high fever, and a high white blood cell count (indicating infection). I was advised to take her immediately to the emergency veterinarian.
Scarlett had to be hospitalized for two nights and was given IV fluids and antibiotics. Even with this treatment, her fever wasn't going down. A sonogram and more X-rays were taken and the blockage seemed to be moving (much to our relief) which was our main concern. However, the cause of her fever was still undetermined. More diagnostic tests were suggested in order to find the source, but the bill was already extremely high and we thought Scarlett would be more comfortable recuperating at home.
Since being home, she has started to recover and is doing much better so far. That being said, we could really use your help with covering the cost of her emergency care visit. My boyfriend and I both work full time jobs, but this will still be difficult for us without help. We would be so grateful to anyone who can help out, anything is appreciated! If you are able, please donate as little or as much as you like! If you are unable to donate, please share this with your family and friends! Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story.
