Trent with Russell Mills' Wound.
One thing leads to another, and @tewz's reply to my "Warm Leatherette" post led me here. This was the industrial world we had before Void Vision, Boy Harsher, Ultra Sunn, and the current events of synthwave and legacy acts.
It's a bittersweet era we experienced during the dawn of the internet as we knew it. We never imagined what social media toxicity, ghosting, loss of privacy, clout, doxxing, and OnlyFans would be. Just Napster, CRT monitors, Myst, websites built on Times New Roman and Copperplate, and waiting 30 minutes to download two minutes of grainy low-resolution video. Weren't we all fortunate?
Industrial (aggro-, cyber, and electro) was fueled by it; a luxury which punk, synthpop, and hip-hop didn't have, and that's where we learned about new acts and label compilations from Off-Beat and Cleopatra. I'm lucky to have my hands on We Came To Dance Vol. 10 and RAS DVA's There Is No Time (which was deemed essential for its time). Two of them (Elektro-Industrial Sounds... and Cyber-Tec) were given to me as a sign of affection by someone who tried pursuing me. (She failed...many times).
I posted Neo-CyberChrist because they were a Long Island act, and I was friends with Dave Jarmula during my final semester at community college. Seven Steps Of Nervousness was a great album in which one of their songs made independent radio. Sadly, that was their only album, and made NCC a regrettable "what-if?" that never took off.
Dave was only one of a handful of people I sincerely got along with on campus; showing that industrial music was my solace and coping mechanism during an era of tired Top 40 hits, formulaic weekend club culture, and rough personal times.
