a heavy moons hangs above the horizon, providing a halogenic glow over the rows of grape vines. two shadows cast over the soil that lines the vinyard, one distinctively taller than the other. a warm hand rests on luca’s shoulder and he smiles up at his uncle — the only man he every felt love from. “ don’t ever show a flicker of fear, that will be your biggest weakness in a fight, ” the elder tells his nephew, passing on what he believed to be great wisdom. the young heir soaked up every piece of advice, engraving his uncle’s teachings in his mind, destined to become like him.

lights flash before his eyes, a mere blur with the pouring rain at the rapid pace the vechile propels him forward. hot tears run down his unshaven face. its not enough speed. a concoction of spirits and aggravation clouds his judgement. his foot presses the pedal further — begging the car to go faster. the engine roars as the corvette exits the corner, flying down the straight and pulling further and further away from florence. he keeps his foot hard on the gas, skimming through the long stretch of highway. the hiss of the tyres over the wet tarmac is lost under the pounding rap song which fills the small interior of the car and vibrates under luca’s fingertips firm on the wheel. the road dips down — the tires spin out. the sense of control that coursed through luca’s veins, pumping an adrenaline luca had never endured before, is lost in that split second. the winshield shatters, spraying shards of glass as the vehile comes into collision with a lamp post. the airbags knock him backwards, he suffocates under the pressure as a bolt of pain electrocutes his frame, rattling his bones. his body is limp from the impact.

he watches his father kneel in front of the alter — a man weak before god. luca pitties him and his reliance on a figurative creator who turned his back on him. a man who’s lip quivers as he begs for his son’s salvation. but for luca it is a lost cause, for god lost him a long time ago when he took the life of his uncle. his only friend. and forgiveness had never been an easy task for luca. his dark hues are drawn away from his father to an iridescent light casting through the stained glass window, illuminating a depiction of the devil. luca had become content with the fact that he was a sinner a long time ago. and no prayers would provide him redemption.

religion played a significant role in his youth. as a child luca placed so much faith in god. in accordance to his family’s values he did what was expected of him and attened church every sunday, dressed in his neatest attire and professed his confessions to the priest. a lot of their household traditions centred around their catholicism, and the family always maintained very close ties with the church. however, after the passing of his uncle, luca gave up all faith he had once placed in god, firm in the belief that god was not one to be trusted. his withdrawal from religion only further hindered his relationship with his family. but luca was determined that he was the only man he could place his faith in. 

ANGER; 𝖔𝖍 𝖉𝖊𝖛𝖎𝖑 𝖎 𝖒𝖆𝖉𝖊 𝖒𝖞 𝖔𝖜𝖓 𝖍𝖊𝖑𝖑

his vexed tendencies only evolved following the passing of his uncle, who he had always deemed as his only father figure. luca’s grief quickly transpired into anger which he directed towards his father, whom he blamed for the death of his uncle. an anger which is so deeply rooted within his being now, he no longer remembers a time when he wasn’t consumed with indignation. luca’s fits of rage emerge without method and can be directed at those who played no role in instigating his anger. its so overcosuming luca’s feels as if he longer posses the means of managing his wrath. 

VIOLENCE; 𝖎'𝖒 𝖆𝖑𝖜𝖆𝖞𝖘 𝖗𝖊𝖆𝖉𝖞 𝖋𝖔𝖗 𝖆 𝖜𝖆𝖗 𝖆𝖌𝖆𝖎𝖓

his anger more than often expells into violence  — a quick fix to a rooted problem he is unable to recognise. what orginally stemmed from his rebellious cause aimed at his parents has become a thrill of spilling blood. luca doesn’t care if he wins or looses the fight, but instead views it as a release, allowing him to spill some of his wicked temper at the hands of combat. more than often it’s the only time he feels anything.

before his uncle left to serve his jail sentence, he passed on to luca the gold necklace he was never seen without. this has quickly become luca’s most prized possion, despite the gold chain sporting a cross as it’s charm. the necklace is always worn by luca and has come to resemble everything he has left behind, the chain serve’s as a reminder that he is only attending st. andrews to achieve his share of the family’s inheritance. an inheritance he believes he rightly deserves, despite having no loyalty to his family. instead he chooses to play the role of their son until he obtains his birthright.
