just a headcanon for now, but i might do like a proper ass ao3 fic one day!!

so sunghoon’s been training at this one rink all his life, he has a private time slot and everything, he’s always on time, it’s all perfect

until low and behold, one day he shows up only to find some guy with a puck and hockey stick ruining his ice

sunghoon’s a bit of a perfectionist okay, he likes his privacy too, so he’s (kinda understandably) a bit upset to see some random boy wearing a snapback on his ice (plus like it’s not like competition season is particuarly far away - also who wears caps inside?? let alone at an ice-rink?)

then the guy turns around and fuck he’s kinda hot

“uh, can i help you?” “yeah, youre kinda on the ice during my private time”

hot snapback boy looks super confused but then he goes “fuck what time is it?”

Sunghoon’s confused and he tells him it’s 8:30 and turns out the boys just come from visiting his parents in australia and didn’t set his time properly, his practice starts at 10. 

Apparently this has happened before

sunghoon’s a little confused because usually the hockey team has practice at 10, and even tho hot snapback guy’s carrying around a puck sunghoon knows the hockey team (hell, his best friend jay is on it), and he’s never seen this guy before

but sunghoon just shrugs because really he doesn’t care, he just wants his ice back

and he gets it back because snapback boy leaves the ice after a bashful little sorry

sunghoon just nods back and gets onto the ice to warm up his spins and stuff, he does a few jumps and spins before going to turn on his music and - wtf snapback boy is still here??? watching him???

sunghoon’s a littler weirded but he doesn’t want to be ruder than he already has been so he just goes ahead with his practice

he finishes his routine almost perfectly

once the music stops and snapback boy is staring at him with his eyes and mouth wide

the guy looks like his eyes are gonna fall out of their sockets so sunghoon’s understandably kinda worried

“hey dude, are you okay?”

snapback boy keeps staring at him for a second and then goes, “holy fuck that was beautiful” and it’s so sweet and sincere and he looks so in awe and really sunghoon can’t help but blush and stutter out a 

“o-oh, thank y-you!”

he continues with his practice and snapback boy watches the whole time, and everytime he finishes the guy shoots sunghoon a smile so wide and genuine that he sunghoon thinks his face hasn’t been not-red since he started practicing. 

anyway his practice time finishes soon enough, and as hes finishing up his last set the hockey team walks in. 

Sunghoon’s friends Jay, Nicholas and Euijoo (affectionately known as EJ_ are there and they wave at him as he finishes his last set, then they go and stand next to hot snapback boy, before dragging the guy with them to where Sunghoon is getting off the ice

“sunghoon my buddy my pal” jay sings, “looking as beautiful out there as ever, so graceful, like a princess” (his words are as teasing as they always are, sunghoon hates him with every fibre of his being)

“haha” he says sarcasticly before jay envelopes him in one of his bigass hugs, the guys promptly followed by Euijoo (who’s taller than both of them and squished them both). Nicholas just high-fives him and then gestures at hot snapback boy

 “ah sunghoon-ah, you haven’t met jake before have you?”

he points at hot snapback boy and sunghoon shakes his head - no, he has not seen this guy before, even if he was just blushing like a 12 year old girl because of him.

“This is jake, he’s an exchange student from Australia,” jay says, “he’s also the newest member of the hockey team - plus like 4 girls have asked him out already, it’s probably cos he’s a foreigner.” (“Jay, you’re a foreigner too.” “Shut up, EJ!”)

Hot snapback boy Jake smiles at him, “yeah we kinda spoke a bit,” he says, “we didn’t get a chance to introduce ourselves but I watched him practice just now!”

Sunghoon nods, “uh yeah,” he says awkwardly, “hot- i mean, jake got here early cos he didn’t set his clock right.”

(jay snorts at that, “again?” he says - jake looks bashful)

 sunghoon thinks its cute

“Anyway nice to formally meet you,” jake says holding out a hand, “you looked really really pretty out there- uh great! I mean, you looked really really great out there!”

“t-thank you!”

(sunghoon tries his best to push down the rush of heat to his cheeks but jay’s giving him that look and he knows it isn’t working)

he says goodbye to his friends, bows a little to jake and then sits on the steps, taking off his skates as the hockey team get onto the pitch. They start a warm up game and woah, hot snapback guys is good

sunghoon usually sticks around for hockey practice anyway, grabbing food with some of them after they’re done, so he watches.

halfway through practice jake shoots a goal (is that what they’re called in ice-hockey, sunghoon really has no idea, he doesn’t really pay attention when he watches his friends games)

the goal is smooth and all, sunghoon can tell by the appreciative hum the teams captain Heeseung lets out

Only then jake catches his eye and the guy fucking winks at him

sunghoon’s whole face is on fire, and he can tell that jake’s flustered too because his face also takes on a particularly firey shade of red

the guy shoots him a panicked smile before the puck comes hurtling in his direction and goes back to the game
