Incorrect Cloak and Dagger Quotes

Tandy: Because I’m prettier than he is!!! 

Evita: Are you though? 

There are many wonderful parts of Cloak and Dagger, but the best part is Tandy and Ty and their relationship. What I love about them, specifically, is how they grow because of each other. They encourage each other to be better versions of themselves and support them when they are down. They are true soulmates because they bring out the best in each other.

Let's start with Tandy. In episode one, she is selfish and a thief. This is her survival technique but it is not beneficial to her or to the people around her. She also struggles with mental illness, and we don't have specifics, but addiction and depression are implied. And I'm not about to imply that Ty magically cures her because that's a terrible trope. But Ty makes Tandy care. About him, first, but also helps her reconnect with her mom and connect with Brigid and address her past with her past. He gives her hope. He shows her that she and the people around her are worth fighting for. He encourages her to open up, not just to him, but her mom as well. She becomes more honest with herself because of Ty’s influence. 

Tyrone is the opposite. He’s quiet and non confrontational. He does not take action and keeps his head down. Tandy inspires him to take charge of his life. He starts talking to his parents more, he gets answers about Billy, he goes up against the man who killed his father. He stops having events done to him and starts doing the events. He starts taking action for justice and answers, instead of being stagnate in his story. Tandy encourages him to do this as she has always had to act. So Tyrone is able to move forward, get closure wish Billy, grow as an individual, a son, and a partner. She gives him courage. She let's him be afraid and angry and permission to be himself, not perfect, and accepts his mistakes. 

I also would like to note that while the characters both change, the core of who they are doesn’t. They still feel like the same character, not out of character due to growth. 

Tandy: Back when I was your age, we didn't have bluetooth in our cars, just CD players.

Tyrone: I'm two months older than you!!

Tandy: You know how I feel about team sports. 

Tyrone: Yes, given today’s political climate, we don’t need to divide ourselvers any more than we already have. 

tyrone: ...sure..
