rio is a teacher, nurse, and councilwoman across different universes! what does this tell us?
she’s intelligent. (and she cares about miles’ education, shown various times but esp in this panel; just after miles won the lottery to attend an elite school.
she’s brave. (”our family doesn’t run from things, miles,” into the spider-verse)
she’s compassionate. (her first thought on finding out miles’ identity is how he can help people)
before ANYTHING else, rio wants to help people. that’s her core belief and something that clearly rubbed off on miles.the way that marvel works, things change between universes. they have to, after all.
rio’s profession changes, but she doesn’t.
she is a girlboss. a womanboss, even.
it does not MATTER if she gets hurt, if she gets threatened, if she is dying, she is strong. that is who she is, and nothing can change it.
miles gets this from her ofc but where does she get it from?

gloria takes shit from no one.
she also seems to be the one person that wins an argument against rio.
now, moving on to some other details about her.
this is not talked about often but we can assume rio is at least Somewhat religious if she’s wearing a cross
she was raised in east harlem (at least in the ps4 game)
second generation immigrant from puetro rico, speaks spanish & english
look i love miles morales more than i love just about any character but i think we have to acknowledge that this love of miles is love of rio as well. she is part of who he is, and that’s pretty goddamn cool, given that most superhero’s parents either died or suck!
