“Because I like challenges, I would... however... its far too early for this, if you’d ask me.” Shego twirled a strand of hair round her finger, delivering her answer with a face calmer than the surface of a lake in winter. “Oh yeah, and something tells me you’ll like this answer. Am I correct?” A smirk hid in the corner of her mouth, and she looked Sergio in the eyes.

Sergio hissed as he applied the alcohol wipe under his left eye, clenching his teeth. As much as it hurt, he at the very least appreciated the fact that he still had both eyes. It had been years since he was subjected to a random attempt on his life, but it was good to know that his skills were still sharp.

He stared at the superficial cut under his eye. Pretty sharp.

It was a quarter to 11 by the time he finished work. He knew that texts this late could be construed as booty calls, and with what he and Shego last talked about, the likelihood of a misunderstanding increased. He chose his words carefully as he said:

Any chance that she was asleep had disappeared when she’d gotten a message from Drakken; it seemed her boss would always need her, even though they squabbled quite a lot. Was it bickering, or was it more of Shego being fed up with him and him defending himself? At this point she had worked with him for so long she didn’t know the answer.

Either way, a bit after Sergio had left, Shego had, too... and by the time he wrote to her again, she had just gotten back home and ran herself a much-needed bath. Drying her hand on the nearby towel she’d left for herself, she picked up her phone to reply.

[text] Not at all. I also finished work not long ago.

[text] Feel free to drive by if you want. You can sleep over, I have a nice sofa if you want to have your own space.

Not only that, but he was tired after working so long, and all he wanted was a chance to finally relax. The hooligans probably plotted revenge against Sergio for their friend, who was last seen lying in an alleyway with a knife stuck in his throat. They ran from Sergio after seeing the extent of his defensive abilities, saying, "Shit ain't sweet! Scram!"

If the hooligans were following him, he could technically have been bringing them to Shego's place, but it wasn't so much of a problem considering the extent of her defensive abilities, which were much more impressive than his own. Shego scared him when he first saw her fight against the Laborers who captured her teenaged not-friend, and she still did to a smaller extent, but the fear also worked in tandem with...other emotions as time went on.

Twenty minutes later, he arrived at Shego's doorstep, sending another text to her:

...Then again, she would do just alright all by herself. In a little while, Shego finally got out of the bath and brushed her teeth, then dried herself and got into some comfortable clothes that could also work as pajamas in case they ended up staying late for one or another reason. It wasn't rare that the mercenary did so even when she was all alone.

By the time Sergio texted her, she had had a light dinner, some seafood linguine and an alcohol-free Margarita (Shego didn't keep drinks at home but she had a few kinds of juice and syrup in case she got bored of black tea), and she was lounging on the sofa. Her legs were stretched nearly to its edge, and her arms were resting atop the armrests lazily. From the distance, her silhouette looked like that of a puma, taking a nap.

He also wondered if she knew he didn't drink. He hadn't said anything about it, but it somehow wouldn't have surprised him to see that she had cold read so much about him. Around men, Sergio was able to keep so much about himself private, but he admittedly didn't have as much experience with women in his Laborer activities, especially not ones so tall, and strong, and—

"Heh, 'course." Her eyes remained on him, holding his gaze. "In this kind of work you get used to patching yourself up after the third fight." Shego moved to the cupboard where she kept medicines and Band-Aids and pulled out some cotton pads and an antibiotic cream. "Mind washing your hands and then your face first? It's gotta be clean so you don't get an infection... those can be a real pain."

"Her name's Shego, she's wanted in 11 countries... and he's Dr. Drakken."

I woke up with this idea in my head and throughout the day I just couldn't wait to post this... It's a silly thing but hey I hope it made you laugh.

“...Thank you. And I chose to crash. Not sure about Kimmie here, though.” Shego still felt odd about the lack of the gloves she was so used to - but she would have to do without them now. This was just going to be a party; it’s too warm for gloves, and she doesn’t need to worry about that now. “Still, I thought I would say thanks regardless. I hope you don’t mind me being here. And... her, too. We know each other.”

“Yeah... we do know each other.” Kim looked very mildly annoyed for a moment. “It’s a long story. Anyway, I’m Kim, and this is Shego. And it’s lovely to meet you.” She paused to check out the place again; there was so much to take in! “Yes, some water would be lovely. I sat down all the way to here so I’ll be fine this way for now, I think. Thank you so much!”

Visibly, she began to relax. The young girl thankful that they weren't other partygoers that she either invited on accident, or forgot about. It was hectic already, the last thing she wanted to worry about was being unintentionally rude to her guests.

With that she hurries off to get the water for the newcomers. Returning just as quick to hand each of them a bottle.

“And besides, this is a chance to make new friends, or at least meet new people,” Kim went on, now more relaxed as well, smiling. “My... friend here is a bit less sociable than me, but we... things are a bit complicated, but let's say we're both rivals and friends. I can imagine she wanted to tag along to keep an eye on me when my best friend can't.”

“That’s true.” Kim laughed, hugging Andi back tightly - though she had to admit, the other’s grip was stronger - and then let go, beaming up at her. “Thank you. I probably don’t say that enough, but… it means a lot to me.”
