Despite its current focus on all things FFXIV, it is my one and only original blog... that I've had for a decade and a half. At the start, it was full of bad teenage poetry and meet-cute one-shots so mawkish and saccharine that I'm blushing down to my toes.
BUT! That is all in the past, literally, so please expect majority FFXIV with interludes of personal posts and writing reblogs. Quite frankly, I'm too tired and scatterbrained to have multiple blogs. Being extremely internet shy, I very rarely post unprompted but will yap endlessly if provoked (re: asked), so please drop an ask about my OCs!

Midori Matsu: She's my in-game WOL, but has her own lore, of course. She's a tea connoisseur, a dancer, and will craft or gather anything her companions need. (I should do a profile for her... I'll find a template somewhere)
Xeranthea: She was created as the mother for an NPC from the FFXIV MSQ (spoiler: dawntrail), but she quickly came into her own. She's reserved and fearful, concerned only for the wellbeing of her child. Currently, she lives solely in my mind's eye, Ellipsus, or Tumblr (only because I can't decide her last name and I need one to be able to make an alt...)
Supporting:
Aka Matsu and Kuro Matsu: Midori's twin brothers 4 years her junior. Outwardly, Aka is stoic and Kuro is hot-headed, but Aka is surprisingly passionate and Kuro can be thoughtful and observant. Both are extremely protective of Midori despite having no martial or magical training.
Chrestos: An older Elezen apothecary who took in Xeranthea and her child. He is kind and gentle, but stutters in the face of strong women.

It's been a rubbish week all round and today hasn't been much better unfortunately, so I shall combat the misery with a full blast of complete and utter nonsense....
Midori Matsu of @immortelleflowers has been developing a vacation package for those with very specific interests - yes it's time for Maid Tourism... However she has other ventures in mind - including a wireless channel just for mothers - "It's Radio Mum!" And perhaps inspired by her experiences with a certain Garlean, she has plans for a dating show for the terminally unhinged - "I'm Mad Suitor!"
Meanwhile, Flower Mintea of @diggingforkuponuts has invented something to mop the brows of hardworking firefighters with his new "Fireman Towel". However he is a little confused on what things should be called - if you have a dog then he suggests that you "Rename It Wolf" and he's even a little unsure as to his own identity at times - "I'm Timeworn Elf?". However I wouldn't question him too much, lest he declares it's "Feral Time Now".
Crenic Namalen of @disaster-husbun is apparently able to put you in touch with some Nice Carnal Men, which is jolly kind of him. Possibly they are all staying at the Clean Creme Inn, which sounds like a relaxing venue - perhaps a place when one might answer the age old question "Can Man Recline?" Although you will need to wait until he has finished gathering ore whilst dancing, as his alter ego "El Cancan Miner".
Synnova Hunter of @bigfatjoy doesn't want you to be over-groomed - "No! Try Unshaven!" she cries. She is also quite keen on comfortable clothing and is looking forward to "Nanny Vest Hour" - and she suggests you cover up as well, if you don't want to be a "Nervy Suntan Ho". However she does support the rights of insects to feel sensual and beautiful, with the praise she heaps upon a certain "Horny Venus Ant"...
Finally Jessica Luna of @amethystpinkpastel is apparently struggling with her "Nasal Juices", which sounds very unpleasant, but she probably wants to make sure she's presentable for when she's counting prisoners during "A Jail Census". Plus, whoever Ale Jan is, she doesn't like her very much, as apparently "I Cuss Ale Jan" is something she needs you to know. However she does have some concern for her non-transgender friend June, who is having a difficult time currently - "Alas, Cis June..."

I am hesitant to make any requests, especially when there are already so many nameday events, and similar things happening in July, But I have a pretty awful workday coming up tomorrow (including my particular favourite: being summoned for a massive bollocking after committing the heinous crime of going above and beyond to get someone all the things they said they wanted, only for then to change their mind.

As a Werlytian Au Ra, Midori grew up with the understanding that to maintain the foothold of the Auri population in Terncliff when the time came, she would find herself an Auri man. Assimilating to the dominant culture of a region was one thing, but mixed relations were... frowned upon.
Having escaped from Terncliff and relocated to Eorzea, Midori did not have much interaction with Auri males until she traveled to the Far East and the Azim Steppe where she met... Magnai. While he did not encompass all Auri males, she... had a similar perception of him as Y'Shtola.
She had already bucked tradition by engaging in relations with a few notable Elezen men during her stay in Ishgard and trek across Dravania. Being propositioned by Magnai further weakened her traditional values. Mayhap if she had stayed in Kugane where there was a larger presence of Raen, she would have found a kind Raen male to settle down with. However, her time in the Far East was short, and when she met Theo (Manager of Suites) in the First... well it was all over for her whether she realized it or not.

What habits or mannerisms has your OC started to pick up from their lover or spouse? Are they aware of this themselves? Does anyone ever tease them about this?
Midori's lover is the Manager of Suites. (My headcanon is his name is Theodore) As such, she's picked up some habits like stripping down the inn room bed before she leaves or saying "anything you require" when Alphinaud or the other Scions make a request. Sometimes she says it sarcastically.
Her love life is a secret from everyone in her life, and because of the current restriction on traversing the rift, she's been able to keep it that way. Midori also has her own strangely meticulous habit. As such, no one consciously recognizes the others as acquired habits. However, the first time G'Raha heard her say "anything you require" his ears twitched and he raised an eyebrow at her.
If your OC could revisit one moment from their romantic past, without changing it, which would they choose? A first meeting? A first kiss? A satisfying end to a doomed affair? Or something else entirely?
Xeranthea: Without changing it.... Mayhap, knowing how it all ended, I would wish to return to the moment of our first kiss.

thing i noticed while looking at characters which may already be common knowledge but it's the first time i've noticed it: most of the scion outfits directly designed by tataru have little red gem accents. here are some examples:
alphinaud's heavensward and stormblood outfit has these lapel things and these glove things
y'shtola's heavensward and stormblood outfit has this gem on the collar
alisaie's heavensward and stormblood outfit has this red pin on the lapel and a red gem accent on the belt
lyse's early stormblood outfit has a smaller red gem on the blue gem necklace
and g'raha's outfit has smaller red gems on his big necklace.
i think these might be in reference to the post-arr quest Ancient Ways, Timeless Wants, where Tataru gets a bunch of "blood pearls" with the intention to make everyone charms with them. they're red pearls! these accents don't really look to be made of pearl, but... idk, it feels like a reference.
anyway, the outfits which were explicitly designed by Tataru (not counting the ones that were constructed by her but designed by someone else, like the stuff Y'shtola, Urianger, and Thancred have been wearing since Shadowbringers) that do not have these accents are pretty much just the ones intended for the WoL — neither the Scion Adventurer attire, the Scion Traveler attire, nor the Wayfarer's attire have red gem accents — but when presenting the WoL the Scion Adventurer set, Tataru does mention sewing the blood pearl charm into the lining, so it is explicitly in there, for the Adventurer attire at least.

Well I've had a go at making an AU Prompt Event for August as a few people seemed to think it wasn't a completely awful idea...
As described, this is an extremely low-pressure event, with no time limits or obligation to follow the prompts in any particular order.
I have split the event into six main headings, with suggested subgenres to choose from, and you're certainly free to do these in the order presented - I've made it so that there is at least five days per prompt, although there is nothing stopping you from doing them all in one go or spreading them out however you wish.
You can engage with as many or as few prompts as you wish - and feel free to ignore any that don't particularly speak to you. You can mash them together into unique and unexpected combinations - perhaps an Ancient Roman Beach Resort or a Cyberpunk Coffee Shop - or simply substitute any you don't like with your own (probably much better) ideas.
Gposes, writing or any other mode of creative expression are welcome.
